What to Wear with This Navy Blue Wrap Dress? Help Me, Fashionistas!

I have a really cute, flattering, navy blue faux-wrap dress that I recently got at Talbots. I'll post a link in the SWH so that you can see it. I rarely wear dresses because I am a pear-shaped plus size (16) with a short waist so I have to wear petite tops and normally dress skirts are too short or the tops are too big, etc. but this fits and flatters and I'm so excited to wear it to work on Thursday.

However...it's kind of boring. I think it needs a necklace or scarf, something bold and colorful. My jewelry is more classic - tasteful and pretty, but lots of silver chains with simple pendant and pearl single strands, and my scarves are all wintery.

Any suggestions for what to wear to add some color to this? I'll probably be able to get to Target or Kohl's tomorrow. What color/style accessories would you add to make this dress really pop? Thank you for any suggestions!

What can I do next?

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I'm so looking forward to doing a little shopping after work tonight!

The neckline of the dress is pretty I would not take away from it with necklaces or scarves.

I would do cute earrings, a bracelet and silver strappy sandals with a heal.

Really cute dress.

Try it with a triple strand of Pearls.. to really dress it up.

Or do not wear a necklace and instead wear a cute cuff bracelet and cute earrings.

Wear heels with open toe or try it with a strappy heels

Very cute!

I would actually wear beige/nude shoes with bright accessories. Target has some great "spring colors" right now, so go with either a Kelly green or orange. I would suggest something that isn't overly "heavy" around your neck and maybe a bangle.

Have fun!

I would leave the neck alone and instead get some great earrings, a bold bracelet and fantastic shoes. Heels as high as you can be comfortable in without straps around the ankle. A nude peep toe pump would look pretty great I think.

No scarf!! They make curvier women look bigger than they are. I'd do a short chunky necklace like the ones the previous poster suggested, or some fun bracelets. Actually, I'd do the bracelets. The neckline of the dress seems fairly high so you don't have a lot of skin to cover up there. So I'd do some reflective earrings (silver coins or something) and some patterned bracelets.

Here are a few at Kohls that might work:

You could add a white linen blazer

Or

a nautical print scarf (red, gold & navy) tied around your neck.
Add gold & white chunky earrings.

You could do the pearls or the silver chain w/ pendant for a simple look (pearls would make it dressier). White accents would be a more classic look (sweater, scarf, etc.)

To make it pop, think spring...I would go with something in a lime green like maybe a lime green sweater, a scarf with navy and lime, or a lime green beaded bracelet. Maybe have your nails done in bright color or with a lime green accent.

That's a really pretty dress - I bet it's super flattering, too! I'd go with something to play up the neckline, maybe a delicate necklace with 3 strands to fill in the space, nothing too long that would lay against the fabric. You want it to lay on skin ending maybe an inch above the fabric. Or no necklace, but some dangly earrings...like silver hoops with diamonds (well, cubic zirconia, in my case) along the hoops. One chunky statement ring OR a bracelet, but not both on one hand. Nude high heel shoes.

The simple elegance of this dress will really let you play around with a lot of different looks. Have fun with it!

If you go to the accessories page, (same website) there are 3 necklaces that appear as if they would be nice accents for that dress. Any of those (or if you can find something similar) I think would look great! Oh, and personally, I would steer clear of a scarf. It would seem (to me) to compete with the belt/sash on the dress.

I also would not do a necklace. I like the bold earring and bracelet idea. And wear some kind of a heel. I love the dress, but do not like how it was paired with flat sandals--not attractive. I think gold, silver, red, yellow, turquoise, brown, or white heels or open toed wedges would look great.
