looking for a well liked canister vacuum for stairs and wood floors. I would also like something to get under the beds etc.

What can I do next?

I have a Kemore. I have 2. One is 'old'.... like more than 15 years old and works fine still. The other one is maybe 10 or less years old. BOTH still work real well. I have 2, because we have upstairs and downstairs, so 1 for each floor.
Love it.
Never a problem.
It goes on carpet or wood floors/hard floors, which we have.
AND it goes under tables/beds/under anything, easily.

I personally love canister vac's.... versus upright vacuums.

Just go to Sear's. That's where I got mine.

Dyson upright has a piece that fits on the hose and it turns into a canister.

I just got one from Sears. It was rated a best buy from Consumer Reports. It's called a Progressive, and there are 3 different versions. I got the cheapest (on sale around 160 I think), and I'm pretty happy with it. It's the blue one, and of the three versions, it was the one that got the Best Buy rating.

I have Kenmore from Sears. It was about $300 or so. Also just got an upright from Walmart because i didnt want to spend the money for another canister but was tired of lugging one vac up and down. Its a Eureka Airspeed, $100, works great. Look at the reviews on Walmarts website. Its a new model and really good.
