Can You Moms Keep an Eye Out for Me?

Ok mamas, I know I have plenty of time on this but considering my daughter always gives me a lot of notice of what she wants to be for Halloween, I start looking early. Since she is often wanting to be something original, it is a good thing that I have time. She wants to be Arietty (from the Borrowers). I know what I want to have her wear...the red long sleeved turtleneck style dress that Arietty wore in the movie. The other two would be ok but since it tends to be rather chilly here in late October, I thought he long sleeve would be best.

The problem is...at this time there is not a costume for this character (at least not that I can find), I have found similiar dresses but they are all adult sizes and my daughter is in a girls size 7 right now . I may have to go get a pattern and supplies and find someone to make it for me (I can't sew more than a button or a minor repair).

If any of you see this costume or a dress for a girl size 8-10 (I don't mind if it is big), can you let me know? Thanks!

*added...I will check out ebay but it looks like that costume would be about $100 with shipping if they would make a kids size (ouch...but thank you). She does this EVERY year and never changes her mind (her first halloween she was a witch because that is what my aunt bought her on clearance before she was born, but after that, she always said what she wanted to be before summer was over and never waivers).
**added...all great ideas...the one on ebay can be made in a kids size but at the same price (not willing to pay that much) so I am going to continue to keep an eye out for the costume or a dress like it. Feel free to message me if you see one (I would greatly appreciate it). I also may know someone that can make it if I find a pattern. Thanks again and I will update if I find one.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I found a ladies size xl red turtleneck...paid $1. I will shorten the sleeves and it should work fine. She won't win any fashion contests but she will have a Halloween costume of Arrietty.

Honestly, I wouldn't get too excited about this, its just way too early. My kids are 12 and 9 and have already started talking about what they want to be. They will change their minds 100x before Oct. It doesn't seem like its popular enough to be an actual costume, but looks easy enough that you should be able to make it pretty easily. Just my opinion. Good luck.

Gotta love eBay:

If the link doesn't work, the listing is titled The Borrower Arrietty Arrietty Cosplay Costume. It looks like adult sizes but maybe they can do kids.

I saw the one on ebay too and it looks like you can order in any size, but the cost is close to $70 and an add'l $39 for shipping.

Can you try to find a red, turtleneck dress and create the rest?

Also, try etsy.com

What a cute idea!! I'll keep my eyes peeled. Dress aside, you shouldn't have a problem putting all the other bits and pieces together! Good luck :)

i just checked ebay - the costume listed is expensive - the shipping is OUTRAGEOUS even from Hong Kong.

Try costumeexpress.com and see what they have - I just looked and there is nothing right now - but that doesn't mean you can't call them and ask.

Try going to your local thrift shops and see if you can find a dress that fits the bill.
