Absolutely! My son has had many dr. appts at Children's over the last three months and the HOV lane has been answered prayer when all of the other lanes were backed up!
I've tried looking all over the NTTA website and even a phone call to them didn't answer my question. I would think that I could drive in the HOV lane if 2 or more people of driving age are in the car. But, my friends swear that I can take the HOV lane with my 2 year old in the back seat. So, what is the real verdict? I don't want to have to pay a ticket.
Thanks everyone! I answered my own question with http://ops.fhwa.dot.gov/freewaymgmt/faq.htm#faq13 right after posting. They do count as passengers in all states. Good! I'm going to use it this morning for our trip to the zoo. It only takes me 25 minutes from Highland Village!

Absolutely. I took the HOV lane many times when my daughter was an infant. I believe DART actually manages the HOV lanes. You can contact them at: DART Customer Service

A fun trip for the next time you go to the zoo is to take the DART rail. My nieces and nephews LOVE to ride the train to and from the zoo. You can park and ride from almost any of the stations off of Central Expressway or you can park in Irving and take the TRE into downtown.
yes! Infant count as a person. I used to do it all the time in the infant carrier and keep doing it now in the booster seat.
WOW this is so good to know!! I never knew that. I thought other passenger(s) had to be of driving age in order to qualify for the HOV lane. Awesome.
The HOV says 2 or more *people*, not "drivers". I dare any police officer to tell me one of my children doesn't count as a person! :) But seriously...they are people, and that's what the sign says!
oh yes you can do it. I got pulled over once and the guy saw my child in the back and said, I am sorry, I did not see your child in the back and let me go!
