Hi Everyone,

I want to plan a camping trip this summer for my family, but am having a difficult time. I'm looking for a camp ground that that would have access to a swimming pool and/or lake ( I would prefer both). Maybe even something that might have some group activities that we can do as a family. Also we do not own a camping trailer, but I was wondering if it would be possible to rent one? I have 4 girls the youngest being almost 2 years old, so I think sleeping in tents are out. Besides I don't want to sleep in a tent. Also I would like to stay in IL, but would also consider traveling out of the state for this experience. Any info you have would be appreciated. Thanks Mamas!

Try Jellystone Park. There are 2 local locations, and they have tons of stuff for kids o do, activities all day, crafts, swimming, you can bring bikes, playgrounds. Very famil friendly. You can rent tiny little cabins w/ minifridges and microwaves. Hope that helps.

Yes you can rent trailers. We too also have a pop up. We bought it last year. You can try the Jellystone Parks. Or you can try the DNR which gives you the State campgrounds and they are cheaper. Now you can go to http://dnr.state.il.us/LANDS/LANDMGT/PARKS/R3/Clinton.htm It costs I think a buck per person to go to the Lake all day.
The lake is also warm. It is about 80 degrees or so. We had a blast last year when we went with our 1 year old and plan on going again this year now that she is two and I have a brand new baby as well. The beach is very nice and kept clean as well as the rest of the area. It is only about a 3 hour drive. Anymore questions please feel free to contact me. There is also a lake is Shelbyville. I have never been there but I hear it is very nice.

Yes, there are places to rent campers. We just rented a pop up to take our 9month camping in Colorado this summer. We love tent camping but don't think we can fit it all in the SUV with the car seat so we opted for this. KOAs and some other campgrounds also have camping cabins which may just have beds or more. I would look at Jellystone, KOAs, and IL's state parks to see what options are offered.

Good luck.
