Hi Mamas! I have a delima. I'm scheduling my breast augmentation surgery on Thursday but I still dont know which size I want. I'm torn between a full C and D but how can I make an informed decision when I have no idea what its like to have a D. I'm a small C now so I can imagine being a little bigger. So, I have a few questions for those who are a size D. First, is it hard to find shirts that arent too tight? Do you get unwanted attention from men (I would feel uncomfortable with men just talking to me because of my boobs!). Do you have back problems solely because of your size? I'm also afraid getting bigger boobs would make my body look bigger. I'm a size 16. thank you so much in advance for your answers!

What can I do next?

if anything i'd just go with a full C. i'm a C right now, but a bit saggy after 2 kids and breastfeeding. kid 1, went from A to C. kid 2, went from B to D. settled at C and love it here! D was too large and men talked to my chest nonstop. @@ why not just perk and round them up and call it even? I will say that in the right bra I can look darn good, most men prefer mine to fakies any day and hubby has never had a complaint, so that's something to think about!

Please reconsider having surgery! I almost went under the knife last year until a close friend shook me back into reality with this email:

"....stick with what God gave you. If he wanted you to have very large breasts, he would've given them to you naturally. It's not like you were born with double A's (and there's nothing wrong with that either).

Invest the $3-5K you're about to spend on "breast enhancement" towards a charitable cause. Stock a local food pantry (do you realize how many people you could feed with $5,000?), help build a home with Habitat for Humanity, the battered Women & Children's shelters are in dire need....the list is endless within our society.

Put down the grocery store "beauty" magazines, learn to appreciate yourself, volunteer your time to a worthy cause (it will boost your self-esteem MUCH higher than a new rack on your chest ever could), or go back to school and learn something new (intelligence is very beautiful). Invest in your child's future instead of your vanity."

That last sentence helped me stop feeding into the destructive thought process that women have been programmed to do for centuries. I now realize that LIFE is more than what you wear, the color of your hair, and that ALL sizes are "normal" in society. Accepting others for who they are and not what they look like is one of the greatest lesson you could ever teach a child.

Focus on what's inside of you and I guarantee that the outside will emulate your progress. Do beautiful things; look beautiful while doing them....

I was a small B until I had my oldest 17 yrs ago. I went from a 32 B to a 48 DD and I Truely hated it. I was miserable e time. I lost weight and lost some of my boobs. I went down to 36 C which I was fine with but still had problems w/finding button down shirts that fit. I had my youngest 3 years ago and went from a 36 C to 42 D which I hated and lost weight and am a 36 B.
If I had my choice, I would Go smaller. You don't have to worry about Saggy boobs, back hurting and finding tops that fit.
I wear a Med shirt and 10-12 pants if that matters and I'm 5'7"
Hope this helps.
Be happy with what God gave you. Give the money to good cause.

I honestly don't see the big difference between a D and an a true full C. They will both give you back pain. All implants will give you back pain b/c the implant weigh more than a real breast. A small C implant will weigh much more than a true size D breast. The trick is to wear bras that hold them so you don't walk with your back pulled down.
Second, if you are going to have surgery and pay thousands, you may as well go with the D. If you are already a C, you wont be happy with a full C implant, unless you want them to be pretty much the same size they are now but perkier.
My best friend had C implants put in and 2 years later redid them and had D's put in and she loves them. She is a size 6.
And they dont stick out like balls so she manages to stay looking classy.
Be sure to do the massages so that they soften up and fall.
If you wear loose clothing, the implants WILL make you look bigger. So wear flattering dresses and tops to accentuate the bosom(not cleavage) and slim down the rest. Black is a good color for slimming. Fitted tops. Use shapewear:Glamorise, Flexees, Wacoal, Spanx, Body Wrap or Lipo in a Box.
Avoid big prints.
Cato is a great store for flattering clothes.:)If you do it right, your D's will actually make the rest of you look smaller. I used to be a fashion consultant. :)
Oh and the same disgusting guys who currently give your C's unwanted attention will also be admiring your D's.
ps- by the way, i have b's. but someday hope to have nice big c's! :)

I am a D and if I could go smaller I would. I do get unwanted attention, it is hard to find shirts that dont look too tight. I like to dress conservative so most of the time I end up wearing very baggy clothes.
I will tell you that my husband loves them :)

I had a breast reduction when I was 18 (went from a 36 DDD to a full 36 C, and am now at a 36 D after having my son). I am about a size 12-14 in jeans now, but I still wish my breasts were back down to a full C.

Yes, it's hard to find shirts that fit properly, ESPECIALLY button down shirts. May as well forget that if you've got a size D chest.

Yes, you'll get unwanted attention from men, but you sound like you'll be more proportionate with a fuller chest, so it probably won't be much more than what the ogling you already deal with anyway. :) I swear, men will stare at boobs no matter what size they are!

You probably won't have any back problems if you're only going up a cup size. More than that, and I would say yes.

The bigger your boobs are, the heavier you're going to look. That's just the way it is. BUT the idea is that they will be balanced with your hips so you'll look proportionate, so a small D might look best on you. Your best bet is to really think about the advice that your surgeon gives you. I had wanted mine to be even smaller (small C or even a full B) back when I had my reduction, and my surgeon completely vetoed me. I'm glad, because I was quite happy with my results. As I said, I need to drop about 20 pounds to get them back to where they were, but at least they're not gigantic anymore!!

Good luck with your surgery. You won't be disappointed! And just think...now they'll never sag! Lucky lady!

I had breast aug 11 years ago. Iwent from a c to a d. Fake boobs are not like real boobs when it comes to back issues. Insertion of the boob under the muscle keeps it from hanging from your body. You really need to consider the width of your shoulders and the fit of your clothes now. I don't think for a size 16 that you will have too much of an issue with gapping and either size. So, it really is a personal decision.

As for attention, some men are just pigs no matter what size you are. From a c to a d isn't that big of a jump.

Go C a D could make you have to buy larger tops witch will just make you look over weight! My sister in law just had a reduction down to a C and she is so happy!!!!! She is about your size and look great and she can buy the right size shirt! Before she would either have buttons pulling or her shirt was to big every where else!
Good Luck!
Enjoy your new boobs!

I am 5'4" about 116# size 2 with natural 34DD's. EVERYBODY thinks I have fake boobs. That is the insulting part for me. I should be glad about that I suppose because my boobs are still very firm and perky, especially for a 46 yr old who passes for 32. Do I draw attention, YES.

When I married almost 20 yrs ago I was a 34B. When I was pregnant in 1994 I immediately jumped to a DD and did not show in my pregnacy til about 6 months. After baby, I dropped back to a C. I will say I loved the DD's while pregnant. In 2001, I had a hysterectomy and over a couple of years, jumped back to DD. My Dr. thinks it is my hormone. In any case, I love having PERKY DD's. I have no sagging issue nor did anyone in my family. We have very dense breast tissue.

I LOVE my boobs, I enjoy the attention. Hubby loves them. We still have date night weekly. Sure, sometimes someone might speak with me due to boobs, you can tell, the eyes are not looking at your eyes!! Sometimes I do have unwanted attention. Most of the negative attention comes from other women. Isn't that sad? I love and enjoy my boobs and would not trade my experience for another.

As for shirts, yes, I have a little bit of hard time finding clothes to fit. I wear a lot of short skirts or shorts and put a top with it. I buy a larger sized top. I will often have things tailored for me if it is something I really like. I am picky about my clothing because I want to flatter my tiny waist and these new tops that are out this year flatter the boobs (great) but the little flare makes you look pregnant. (Don't want that) I wear a lot of fitted nice tees and tanks. Nordstrom, Guess, GAP body, etc. I am not considered a conservative dresser. My mother still cringes at my clothing choices, but then, she cringes at everything. That is why I live a plane ticket away.

My back, no issue. I wear a Victoria's Secret unlined Body by Victoria bra. I do change out to new bras often. You can tell when they need to be replaced. I do walk a lot, eat in moderation and drink a LOT of water.

Another peeve is all the padding put in some dresses and swimsuits. With DD you don't need that so I always removing that from my clothes before I wear them.

Good luck with your surgery, I hope it goes well and you are pleased with your choice.

I am 5'7 and weight at time of surgery 120 lbs or so. I was a small B and went up to a Large C or small D. I wear D bra's...I got the size to fit my body the best...because I am tall you cant tell that I have size D breasts. UNLESS, I wear a tight shirt! And yes they do get looks if I wear clothing like that.

I wear clothing that is not real tight so people dont notice my breasts. I got them to proportionalize my body not to show thtem off to the world. I think I would of got them smaller if I had it to do over again. Since I had my first child they grew a bit.

Actually if I had it to do over again I would not of done it. In a few years I will need to get them replaced...I have Saline right now and HATE the way they feel. It feels like liquid shooshing around and dont feel natural. It also affected my ablity to produce breast milk. I only produced from the top half of my breast. I cant feel the bottom half of my breast and let me tell you....be prepared for a lot of pain afterwards!

I am a D/DD cup naturally and can't wait for breast reduction. I was a B cup before having my first child. I have about 25 pounds to my ideal weight, and then I will see where I am at for reduction surgery. I know many women like their larger breasts, I am not one of them - I am bigger on top than on bottom, and that just makes me look heavier than I am.

Hey A.,

Well, as a size 16 myself with a full D, I can tell you a few things about what I've experienced. I have a lot of back pain right in the middle of my back where my bra strap goes. More than half the men I see stare at it and more than 75% of the men I talk to talk to my chest, which is very uncomfortable attention at times, and yes, it makes it much harder to find clothes that fit. I found the most fabulous dress the other day, but I couldn't buy it because it fit me everywhere except up top. It was uncomfortably tight. And yes, as a bigger woman, bigger boobs make you look a lot bigger in general. I have one minimizing bra that I wear sometimes, and I look 25 pounds thinner when I wear it. It's just too uncomfortable to wear it all the time, because it's literally smashing everything in.

Have you tried inserts in your bra right now to see the difference for yourself between a full C and a D? If you haven't, I would suggest that so you can make a more informed decision.

Lastly, as a fun but sad aside, my friend and I got silly once a few years ago when she was breastfeeding and we decided to weigh our boobs by putting a scale on a countertop. Funny to do, yes, but sad to see that I'm carrying around 10 pounds in breast alone. No wonder my back gives me grief!

I'd also like to point out that exercise and losing weight will only do so much for a lot of women suffering from back pain from big breasts. When I was at my smallest (a size 8), my back still hurt. And almost every woman with larger breasts I've ever talked to about it agree that they have a lot of back pain as well.

It's your body, and you need to do what feels right for you. I just wanted to share my experiences. Good luck in whatever choice you make!

Congrats on your decision to do this!! I love mine. I am a D and have never had back pain and have had them for 6 years. When I tried on sizes of implants, they go by how many cc's of saline to put in the implant, so the actual "cup size" will just be determined once it is all done. It all depends on how they fit your body and your size to start with. For example, I wanted to be a good full C or D (I started out a B) and so I got 400 cc's and that made me a D. Make sure you have the opportunity to try different sizes on before you go in. And going under the muscle will make them look and feel more natural, as well as prevent rippling. To answer your question about buying shirts, yes it is a little hard to find shirts that fit. I am a size 4/6 and so I sometimes have to go up to mediums in tops where I used to wear smalls. GOOD LUCK!!!

If you are a C why would you even bother with surgery (the questions applies to any size really). I am naturally a full C and go up to a D if I put on any weight. I prefer to be smaller. It makes things easier. I can wear button down shirts without them looking like they will pop open, I can wear a reasonable sports bra, I don't feel like I'm all boobs and I look slimmer. Unless this is reconstructive I would go with what the good Lord gave you. In my experience he knows what he is doing. Not sure why it matters, but I'm an size 4 - 6 in pants and small in shirts if I'm on a smaller boob stretch or a medium if the girls are fuller.

I am also having surgery in a few weeks, but its breast reduction for me! Im a DD and prob going to a full C. Yes, my back hurts and it is affecting my posture. But Im not sure if implants have the same effects. I have been going back and forth on full C or D also- but I think I have settled for the C. Im 5'7 and a size 10 and yes its hard to find tops that fit. I can rule out anything with buttons. Yes you will get extra attention, but I think thats possbile at just about any size. Im just looking forward to the lift mine will get and the pain relief Im getting. Size is not really the issue for me. As someone else mentioned try some sizes on and see what feels right. The actual results will be different with everyone. Good Luck!
