If you haven't called the ER, or hopefully she is better this morning. If the eye is still red and burning, take her to be seen right away. Do not use eye drops that have chemicals in them (like Visine) it will burn like fire, especially if eyes are already burning.

Better to use LIQUID (artificial) TEARS or something designed as an "eye wash". They are a lubricating solution for dry or irritated eyes, they won't burn.

If only ONE eye is affected, I would be concerned that she has something else going on, maybe she has an injury or a corneal abrasion which is really painful. IF both eyes affected, maybe the chlorine, but likely wouldn't be just one eye.

The chlorine is too harsh for her eyes. She has to learn to wear swim goggles. Believe me, it's tough. They have to keep the water disease-free, but it's hard on kids' eyes.

It sounds like a reaction to the pool chemicals. I would try to flush her eyes with clear water, with an eye dropper, or use something like Visine.

The only other suggestion I have would be to call a 24 hr nurse line or a near-by ER, they will sometimes answer questions over the phone.

Sounds like it is from the chlorine. Give it some time.

I agree with the others that it is likely a reaction to the chlorine. My daughter is also somewhat sensitive to it as well. We go to the indoor pool and it doesn't affect her as much as the outdoor pool...maybe there is more chlorine in outdoor pool b/c it's generally busier, I don't know.

I usually have my daughter rinse her eyes out with water and then do a wet rag like you did, but that usually helps my daughter not makes it worse.

You could try eye drops (just regular saline) or see if she'll wear goggles. It doesn't happen to my daughter all the time, only sometimes.
