I did the party for the twins and set a limit for each thing. Like so much for a bear and so much for clothing. Anything over the limit was on the parents. That way everyone go something to go along with there animal.

I to didn't like the idea of the store being open. It does make it harder. But it was a lot of fun. And very high in price.

My daughter had a build a bear party it was real nice. I ordered things from birthdayexpress.com to give out to the children. I just supplied the bears.

Build-a-bear is the bomb for any birthday (espically girls!) although I have never done the "party" thing I have taken my girls & friends there for birthdays...and it was always a hit. As far as a tip, if the person that "does" your party is good and makes the event great for the kids consider $2 per kid up to $20 or so. If they are only so-so then smile and just give them $5...or even nothing. You are not required to tip them at all. Have fun!!

My daughter had a BAB party last year. I think we went with the $25 package per child and had 6 kids. Afterwards, we took them to Ruby's Diner (this is at the KoP mall) and treated the kids to lunch. I made a cupcake-cake and brought it to the restaurant. Overall, it was a really nice party!

Both my girls had BaB birthday parties. One for her 8th and one for her 6th. Lots of their friends have also had their parties there. We had ours at a mall in Denver where you could have the party then walk over to California Pizza Kitchen for lunch, and we brought in a cake. Unfortunately, there's no place in BaB to serve any cake, but they'd probably have suggestions about where to do that part of the party. It's a very easy party, you literally just have to show up and they take care of everything. I'd do it again in a second. It works better with smaller groups of kids - if you have 20 kids waiting to fill the bears, it can take forever, and waiting is hard for the smaller ones. My 6yr old had about 7 guests and my 8 yr old had 6 - it was the perfect number. I don't remember if I tipped. I actually think I didn't on their recommendation. I would ask the store manager what to do about that. Anyway, it's a fun party and your 5yr old will love it.

usually if you do that, you go for pizza or ice cream afterwards and yes keep number's small, also can get expansive. You should tip if a good job done.

I did do a build a bear with my daughter. She picked about 4 friends. I had dinner at the house of pizza before we left. We went down to the King of Prussia one. They were very nice. I believe I told them an amount that they could spend and they went to work. We then came back to the house and we had ice cream cake and the girls then went home. It was nice not to have a mess at the house with all the girls running around. I believe that my daughter was a little older but not much. The website had the information about parties. Again it was quite a few years ago.

Have fun.

Build a bear parties are a fun and easy way for you to have a birthday party for your child. One suggestion, the ones I have ahd and gone to do not serve food. If the store is in a mall, you may want to consider buying a pizza and/or having cake and beverages the food court. Also, unless you have alot of help- only invite about 4 friends.

Hi B.,

I had a Build a Bear Workshop several years ago for my oldest daughter at the time it was all I knew about for that type of party. My daughter had fun and that is all the matters in the end but I did not care for having my birthday of 12 kids while the store was open...sharing the space was very chaotic. I also did not like that I purchased the animal and then some parents let their kids buy outfits but other kids could not...I felt badly for the other kids. I also did not like that the store I had it in had no designated birthday space so we had to have the cake and treats out in the food court. It was not the best in my opinion.

Check out www.noahsarkworkshop.com

They come to you and you have a Stuff n Fluff Workshop in your home...they have over 25 themes so you can do an outfit and animal or just an animal...no child is left out because you set the tone of the party. They are professional children party entertainers and will make it very special for you child...they have a ton of animals to choose from. All you have to do it the food and they will gladly help give you ideas to theme it with the workshop you choose. Check out the website and they will be able to get you a party leader in your area. There animals are very high quality and a great price.

I have had both...I loved the Noah's Ark Workshop so much I joined their team years later. I don't want you to think I am biased but I did find some drawbacks to Build a Bear in the party sense but my daughter still had fun and the product was good too.

Good luck!!!

Hi,
My son had his 5th birthday there and he and the kids LOVED it! And the great thing about it is they have something great to take home with them, rather than a bunch of things in a gift bag that they won't look at after that day. And the place offers different levels of parties so you can pick how much you want to spend. I did the highest level so they kids could dress their animals.
I would definitely recommend this. I had mine at the KOP store and the girl we had was great. I believe I did tip her but I don't recall how much. Since it is not required anything you give would be appreciated. After the party we took the kids upstairs to the pizza place and they can make a pizza in a bear's face so that tied in nice (they have a lot of people from Build a Bear go in after their party).
Good luck!
A.

i think it depends on if you are willing to spend that much money! I've been to two build a bear parties, and the first time, the mom gave everyone a spending limit of $25 each!!! If you have a lot of kids coming, that would add up QUICK! yikes! also, since there was so much to choose from, the kids were kind of let loose in the store, and it was a bit chaotic.

the second party we went to, I guess they paid $10 per kid, so they only got to choose which color they wanted from the $10 bear, and then they got to put ribbons on the bear. My friend who threw the party was upset that that was all the kids got... she didn't realize they wouldn't get any clothes. I do have to say, since there was no shopping to do, the girl running the party played games with them while the stuffed the bears, and so the party itself was better.

my neice had a sleepover party with her friends (she's a little older), and my sister found someone that comes to you, with all the fixings to stuff and dress a bear. I'm not sure what that costs, but it has to be cheaper than build a bear!!!!!!! Check craigslist, i think i've seen them advertised on there.
