Bug Bombing...

My husband and I just bought our 1st home. YAY!
We have this month to patch, paint, re-carpet, clean etc We aren't moving in until the end of this month.
This house has been vacant for about a year. We noticed, while there the other day, that there a a fair amount of spiders showing up.
I don't care, but my husband is scared of spiders hahahah weird huh? I'm the designated Spider slayer!
Anyway. I've never bug bombed before. Is this something we should do before we repaint? If we paint 1st then have it bombed will there be a stench left over?? Also about how much does that cost?
Any advice would be awesome!

What can I do next?

We generally use the bug bombs found at the dollar store which are about $10 for 4. We put one on each floor of the house and an extra on the main floor. They work well but we do it at least once a year in the spring when the spiders are coming out and sometimes again in the fall or if we begin to have an issue with our dog and fleas. I have never tried a professional so I am not sure how it compares. I would recommend bombing before painting because they do leave a residue. The smell is there for a day or so but we always come home and open all the windows to air the house out and it's not a problem. It's helpful that you aren't living there yet so it will be fine once you are ready to move in. Congratulations!

It won't leave a smell or a residue. Either way is fine.
You can buy the bug bombs at any hardware store for under twenty bucks.
Once it's over--it's over so---BOMBS AWAY!

you can buy the bug bombs anywhere. Check the label for kid-safety. But usually they're okay!

If the house has been vacant for a year, you may want to have an exterminator come in & do the house inside and out. Do this after all painting & cleaning.....& you'll be set for quite sometime! The last time we did this it was <$100 & lasted a couple of years. Well-worth the price!

YAY CONGRATS!!

I would bomb first, paint later. You may have a residue on the walls that may prevent the paint from sticking properly, so you'll want to wipe them down first.

I would call a pro, and I know it's expensive, but even if you bomb, there may be somewhere the spiders are coming in that bombing won't correct. Any tree branches close to the house will need to come down. I know with Orkin you can get a free in home inspection and even if you don't choose to use them, they'll show you what needs to get done (so you're not doing this every spring!)... They were really great at our old house, we had those stupid little sugar ants like WHOA, but they told us where and why they were coming in, gave us some recommendations to do it ourselves, and we never ended up using their services :)

bomb the house before the repairs. spiders will overcome an empty house thats been vacant, now that humans are present the majority will stay outside after the bombing.

I would use the bug bombs first. BE SURE ALL PILOT LIGHTS ARE OFF.

There was a news story a few years back about homeowners who bug bombed and didn't know to turn off all pilot lights and their houses exploded.
