Need a little help with some wings! I'm looking for a wing recipe that can be cooked in the oven & isn't too spicy. I love hot food but the little ones here can't quite handle it yet :-)
I've looked a little on allrecipes but honestly don't have the time to sort through all that could be too spicy so thought I would seek "real life" advice. Thanks much!
EDIT - Maybe Buffalo wings wasn't the correct term - more like chicken wings?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for your help! Tonight we went with the recipe suggested by Melissa J. since I happened to have all of the ingredients in the house! It was quite tasty & most of the family liked it!!
We will have to try the other suggestions soon :-)

I think Buffalo wings always have some degree of heat/ spiciness. Good luck finding a kid friendly one. I'd love to try it if someone posts a recipe.

Ooh, ooh pick me!!

OK, this is not a buffalo wing recipe, but it my all-time favorite & my kids beg me for it on a regular basis. I use one of the large packages of wings, cut them in individual sections & toss the tips. In a giant bowl mix together 3 Tbsp. each of honey, dijon mustard, & soy sauce. Add 2 Tbsp. lemon juice, 1/4 cup olive oil, 5 smashed garlic cloves & a ton of salt & pepper. Mix the wings all around in the marinade & pop them in the fridge for a few hours (I sometimes do this the night before). Throw them on a cookie sheet with a rack & either bake or broil. They get all sticky & carmelized from the honey & the mustard. Oooh, my mouth is watering just thinking about it! I know what's for dinner tomorrow!!!

Hi Danielle, I make chicken wings all the time. I buy the fresh whole wings that you have to separate into 3 pieces. I cut off the tips and put them in the freezer to use to make chicken stock.

I put them on a cookie sheet with parchment paper in a 425 degree oven for about a half hour.

Then I take them out and swirl them around a bowl with the sauce (I have some kids who like buffalo and some who don't, so I do a batch with bbq sauce, or teriyaki sauce, sometimes I even use shake n bake, tehehe).

Then I put them back in the oven so the sauce carmelizes.

Sounds like a great idea for dinner tonight!

:)

For little ones, I wouldn't do spicy wings yet.
But chicken nuggets can be wing-like IF you provide the blue cheese dipping sauce (and celery sticks).
Our favorite wing dip: Maries Super Blue Cheese dressing diluted slightly with buttermilk and mix in a little dried oregano. It makes a great salad dressing, too. Sometimes I'll add a little minced fresh garlic.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix 2 C. flour and season salt to taste in a large baggie. Wash the chicken wings with cool water, pat dry, put in baggie to coat. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spay liberally with cooking spray. Lay wings on sheet, sprinkle some with cayenne, if you want them hotter. Bake until golden, about 25-30 minutes, turning a few times throughout. You can heat some hotsauce and butter in a pan to pur over yours or your husbands.

If you want to do a buffalo wing style then you can get the kens marinade. They have the kens marinade which is buffalo sauce. I would say to use that and when it is baking in the oven add butter to it so it will not be so spicy. I like it because it is spicy but not too spicy. I eat it with carrotts and some blue cheese or ranch dressing.

I buy the Foster Farms bag of "party wings" and I cook them in the oven on 350 - 400 with some garlic salt, then towards the end, I coat half of them with a teriyaki glaze and the other half with the recipe for buffalo wings on the "Franks Red Hot" Sauce bottle. It is basically butter and the sauce....I bake it on and use the extra sauce for dipping.......

i used to work for a wing place and found out they used butter/parkay to reduce the heat intensity. I used thier hot wing sauce and added butter abit a time til it wasnt hot for me.

We are a household of wing eating family..lol just cos they're easy to fix imho.. Last yr I found a chicken recipe on McCormick.com, tried it w/ chicken wings & have been making it ever since! Husband & 4 y/o son love it everytime. The recipe is called Onion Baked Chicken. Just substitute the chicken parts w/ wings & voila! Delicious! This is a great website too, I've made a few dishes fr here & so far haven't been disappointed yet.
Good luck!
