Bruise

Hi J.----Not sure what it would be called medically but I think that this could be considered a type of scar. I don't think it would be permanent, but I wouldn't be suprised that it might take weeks, even months for it to fade. A fall like that put a lot of pressure on the skin and it was amazing that it didn't break it to cause a cut. A cut would scar...so...

Look for a product made by Burts Bees called Res-Q Ointment. Smells great, made with natural herbal products and is good for bug bites, cuts, bruises, etc. I use it for everything. Seems to aid the healing process. My dad has a scaly skin problem and this works as good as, if not better, than a prescription ointment. It may help to heal your baby's bruise faster.

I don't think it's anything problematic. It will just take awhile to fade. Ask the doc next time you see him. Be well, D.

I would think that it will eventually go away. It just needs to repair. We keep Arnica Montana on hand for these things. We use the internal and external varieties. If the skin is not broken, you put it on topically. If it is, and if it is a head trauma, take it internally also. You can't put the ointment on broken skin or it will sting really badly. You will be amazed at how well it works. My husband got hit in the shin by a fastball. He put arnica ointment on it and it only bruised where he didn't put the ointment.

Bruises to the face take a loong time to heal but usually there is no lasting scar. Lots of blood vessels in the face and not much other "cushion". I wouldn't worry about it scarring.

My son has a bleeding disorder and gets a lot of bruises, very easily. Once he got one just above his jaw from smacking against the door. He did get a bruise and it took about 4 weeks or longer to go away. There are a lot of blood vessels in the face so this might take a while. She could ahve a slight tan or faint purplish mark if she damaged any cells--like as we get older and get those broken capillaries.

I don't know if this is the same thing but my son fell on the side of his butt back in May and had a very dark (it looked like a birth mark for a while) mark over most of the summer after the bruise healed. Then it started to fade and now I can still see it but it's much lighter. I expect it'll continue to fade until it goes away.
