Breast Reduction / Lift- Questions for Moms Who Have Done It

I don't have any answers to your specific questions, but my friend had a reduction after having her kids. She is small and her bra seriously could have been a hat for me. Like you she had back pain and was restricted in what kind of bra she must buy, etc. She even sat with poor posture from the weight. She got a reduction and she says it's the best thing that she has ever done. She would never go back. She loves it! Good luck and I hope you find the specific answers to your questions!!! :-)

I have had a few friends who have done it. I have heard you can lose sensation in your nipples but my friends have not. All of them love it, say they would do it over and over again! From what they have said, it cost about $7k. You can get just a lift or you can get a lift and a augmentation in it to make it firm or round. You can cut yours down and then put the enhancement in it and they will be perky. You can just cut yours down so they are still somewhat natural but they won't be round and will eventually sag again. i say go for it! Especially if insurance is going to cover it. I think that if you are this unhappy and they are as big as you say they are, you can only get better. :o) The only hang up I would have is the scarring, they actually take your nipples off and then replace them so you will have scarring around them. Make sure you pay the extra and go with someone reputable b/c this is very important and you don't want to have something wrong, sometimes the nipples can be cut crooked, etc Good luck!

Have you had your dr contact the insurance company? I just went in for an eval and after the dr said well you could be a good canadate and didnt sound super sure that i was, i got approved!! i have had physical therapy for over a year and rashes under my breast, all documented which helps. so just a few tips good luck make the app with a surgeon and see what they think :)

I would have to say I have the exact opposite issue... no experience with it myself. I have been a massage therapist for a number of years and I've done massage on breast surgeries due to pain with scar tissue and stiffness. Something to consider and I've heard women say that they do lose sensation.

Have you tried peck workouts? That usually lessons the size of the breast and lifts. You may have already tried.

I'm not sure about cost in your area. I've been researching it for at least 4 years now! I am going to get it done, but it's costly. I am in the same boat with the back problems and insurance will not cover it. I went on one consultation with a surgeon and got the cost for a reduction/lift and tummy tuck. The whole thing was going to cost in the ballpark of about $12,000. That was 2 years ago. The reduction and lift cost more than the tummy tuck and more than implants. Go figure! Anyway, be prepared to pay anywhere from $5 - 8,000 for the surgery. Good luck!

I'm actively hunting for a plastic surgeon to do my tummy tuck. I was settled on one, and then he moved to a new practice that's out of reach for me.

I'm going to my 3rd doctor next Tuesday. I can tell you that I'm looking for someone that will explain everything, answer my questions honestly, and ideally, be able to describe the final result of their work.

The first doc I met didn't gel with my personality. The second I really liked (and now he's moved on). The third I'm waiting for a personal opinion on. I've read mixed reviews on Google about him, so I'm waiting to see what my gut says when I meet him next week.

Can't speak to the cost for breasts or the nipple question. But wanted to share what I'm looking for in my surgeon.

I haven't done it yet, but I completely intend to. I have nearly the same measurements as you (am now a size 4, ballooned to a 36J and am currently a 32G, but still nursing). My cousin had it done and she would never go back. She loves to not have to wear a bra and they aren't in the way anymore. She's also a doctor and the key to getting insurance to cover it is if there is already nerve damage, such as tingling or numbness in your arms (especially on the ouside hands, pinky and ring finger). I actually do have the tingling/numbness at night, so I'm hoping insurance will cover it but I won't go for my consult until after I'm done breastfeeding.

I had a breast reduction when I was sixteen. If you can get two opinions that it is for medical and not cosmetic reasons then they may pay for for the surgery less the deductibles. I had the surgery young but I do not have any issues with sensation loss in the nipples. It would probably cost $5000 to have it done. I would ask some friends if they know any good plastic surgeons or see if your doctor can refer you to one. If you have any other questions let me know. It was the best thing I ever did. It was hard being young and having big breasts.

I had a reduction in january.my surgery cost around 29,000 dollars. sometimes you do lose sensation in your nipples it just feels really dull but not everyone loses sensation.I gained sensation back n mine.to make a long story short it will be well worth it if it relieve the pain in your back.
