I had mine done 2 years ago. I can say that the doctor DEF downplayed the recovery. I'm pretty good with pain but that was bad.
The surgery is primarily outpatient. Mine was done in an office that had an area specifically for breast Aug. Some surgeons, the ones I researched, do it with an over night stay. I DO reccommend it if it possible.
My implants are under the muscle. I chose to use a local anestesia and a calm down pill, lol, rather than being put under. I didn't feel anything and wasn't afraid. BUT after that numbing med wears off, it's extremely painful. Your muscle has been cut and manipulated. You use the muscles in your chest for just about every movement you make.
I ended up sleeping propped up and i did NOT try to move my self at all. If I needed to adjust, I got my husband to do it. That was only for the first 2 days.
After that it majorly improves. But it does take about 30 days to not have pain anymore.
And with under the muscle implants, they ride 'high' on your chest for a few months. They have to drop, as the doctors put it, into their normal position.
So after about 6 months, I started looking normal. A year, 100% normal. You cant tell that my boobs are fake. I can, of course, lol I can feel them in there.
Advise?? Do your research. Do NOT settle for the least expensive surgeon. They are the cheapest for a reason and this is your chest. Revision surgery is WAY more than an original Aug.
Hope it helps. PM if you need to chat.
