Ok--I just had my 2nd and am having a hard time finding a bra that fits. I have very big breasts(part genetic and part years of B/C pills for extreme periods). I wear a 36 but am now wearing the highest size that they have in my favorite maternity bra(Royce)---a L!!! This size worked for the first one but it seems that I am doomed to be now even bigger for the 2nd. I am VERY frustrated and don't know what to do. Does anyone know of any bigger bras or shops in the Portland area that could help me? I have tried going up to a 38 because the cup does get bigger that way but then it rides up my back and is basically useless. Thanks, in advance for any replies!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the good answers! I called the department stores listed and they said they don't carry my size. I couldn't find any of my size on line(36M) so I will have to make an appt. to go to a specialty shop. It will be a while since things are very hectic right now. I'll keep everyone updated and post if I get some good help/advice.

Nordstroms!!! They are the best bra fitters in the business. You will walk out of there in a totally different size than you thought you were and finally in a bra that fits.

I agree w/ Mallory! Nordstroms is the best. I was a J and I got my very large nursing bra from my hospital's lactation clinic. Does your hospital have a store?

Good luck and congratulations w/ your 2nd!

Another recommendation for Nordstrom. I wear a 32DDD and they are the only store that actually carries my size. All sorts of obscure sizes available. They also do a great job on fittings.

I wear an L also -- you're not alone! I order from Lady Grace

http://ladygrace.com/Default.asp?bhcd2=1288471717

They have bras up to an "N" -- keep in mind that some European sized bras run smaller. After a "D" the standard gets blurry and there can be huge variations from maker to maker. And "H" in one maker might be a "J" in another. The ladies that work at Lady Grace are fantastic they can help you with sizing. I also feel like their prices are very reasonable. I was paying $75 a bra at one point before I found them. Now I am able to get bras for 30-40.. and you know being that large you're hard on your bras.

You have NO idea how long I searched for a place for bras, and how many times people with good intentions would make suggestions of places that don't carry larger then a DDD.

Send me a PM if you want any suggestions on bras I've actually bought.

Good luck!

This is a very good place for all sizes of bras. The lady there is great and she will custom fit you. No sleazy stuff either just down right support. I used to work in a plus size boutique our sizes were 34F to 60J. I know Goddess is brand that goes up to the larger sizes. Good luck.

JCPenney should have at least one lady trained in measuring correctly.
It is a free service and they are very discreet and helpful(especially if you are like me and hate certain features of bras). Plus, they have 40% off or more every other week it seems like. If you buy 1 thing then fill out an online survey, you get a 15% off coupon and you can buy more. One year they had buy one, get one free+manufacturer's rebates. They were 75% off then.
Also, they have bra extenders to hook into your bra and they fit up to 4 inches wider. I got some at the fabric store and hobby lobby(i washed them with the bra and left them on). they are $3 a piece at most.

Forget department stores- they are useless in finding a bra in the size you need. With my daughter, I sized out to a 38M- no kidding. (I am normally a 36 DD and a size 4.) It's embarrassing being out in public! About the best I could find was a 38 L, and that was too small. My advice is to find a specialty bra store in your area. Someone from that store may have more resources at their disposal, and can probably tell you if certain bras can be altered to fit. You can also try them on in the store. You can try the hospital lactation store, but the largest I could find there was an H cup. :( Good luck!

I go to Just Like a Woman off of Macadam, they will size you and then get you a couple of different bras to try. What I do is go get sized by them and find the names of the bras they are giving me and then go look for them online unless you are willing to drop $70.00 on a bra.
