When I had my kids I was told to only buy one ahead of time because the size can change so much after birth.
Maybe you should relax and wait.
I just received the nursing bras I order online. And they don't fit. I order the largest I could find 46-E and they are still too tight. I normally wear a 42 or 44-D depending on the style. I can't imagine I have the biggest boobs of any nursing mamas out there. So where can I find affordable ones? I'm scared to even think of what size I will be once my milk comes in :(

I was an I cup with my last one.....I went to a place called Alice Rae. They are in tucson but i believe they ship. http://www.alicerae.com this is their website
I think sizing has changed... but I got mine at Motherhood. It wasn't as much as I expected! Many are on sale... and the lady there measured me. An F?? I have a hard time believing it, but they have BIG sizes is the point I'm trying to make! LOL
Get a bra strap expander.... then it will work.
I got mine from Nordstrom's.
I am sure any department store foundations department will have it.
Was your bra too tight in the cup or the back strap around your torso?
If it is tight around your torso, then a bra strap expander will help.
For me, the cup size would fit, but the back strap would be too small/tight.
I couldn't find nursing bras big enough for me either. I didn't have the internet at the time so I don't know what's available out there...but what I did was use semi-loose-fitting sports bras instead. I LOVED them for nursing--didn't have to mess with any clips--just pull the bra up! :)
I did a search online for "where can I find size 42 nursing bras" and it pulled up a lot of choices. That might help you in finding something! Nordstroms seems to have a great selection.
Good luck!
I would wait till at least a week after you give birth - till your rib cage shrinks a bit ( cause the baby is out) and your milk is in and starts to regulate, before spending any big bucks on more than one....for now, I would just stick to the nursing tank tops, like these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Glamourmom-Nursing-Tank-w-Bra-S-M...
http://cgi.ebay.com/UNDERCOVER-MAMA-CAMISOLE-NURSING-BRA-...
http://cgi.ebay.com/Fancee-Free-Nursing-Black-Tank-Top-NW...
http://cgi.ebay.com/Precious-Image-nursing-tank-tops-blac...
They were a big favorite of mine while nursing, becasue they can be worn alone, or under something else, all year round, and they cover your tummy while nursing....tummy not looking so good after birth here!
Then on top of that, I got a few actual nice fitted nursing bras, once I was sure what size I was going to be/stay, so I could wear them under nicer tops for church and such. But almost every day wore the nursing tanks, I think I had about 8 of them. Target brand was just sa good for me as Glamour mom brand and Motherhood brand.
But yeah, wait to spend the big bucks till a few weeks in, when you know you will keep nursing and you have more of an idea of what size you will settle in to.
Have you had your baby yet or just preparing for the big day? When I was at the hospital they had nursing bras there and someone cam and measured me the day after I too had BIG ta-tas. I was a 42 EEE yes my own free floatation devices. Call your hospital to see if they have that sort of service. if not go and get measured at a bra store. they will be able to help you. gl
I personally never used nursing bras. I'm a plus sized girl too, and have to wear plus sized bras. I just used sports bras.
I actually liked sports bras because my boobs NEVER hurt. They kept everything snug and when I needed to nurse or pump, I just lifted the bra up.
i am in a j cup right now and i have found some good nursing bras at breakoutbras.com
they usually have specials going on.
I was a 34gg when nursing (or was I an h?) and I found bras at motherwear to start and then googled something like "gg nursing bras." Good luck.
I wouldn't go for the affordable one - I'd invest in two really good ones and use nursing pads to help keep them cleaner. Motherwear is a great company - but bras need to be fitted. If you are near their Massachusetts store, see if they offer fittings. Otherwise I'd go to the nearest good lingerie store for a professional fitting. That's what I did - and the good bras relieved back and breast ache better than the affordable bras bought at the standard brand outlets. Also, the hooks to open the bra worked with one hand much easier.
Have you tried motherwear.com? Truly the holy grail of nursing wear...good luck :)
I was a 44 DDD when my milk came in.
I got mine at Motherhood Maternity.
On their website they go up to F.
I was a 38J when nursing. Look at herroom.com, biggerbras.com and figleaves.com. I had the most success between these places. Good luck! I know how frustrating it is.
I just got mine on Monday or Tuesday of last week. I think I was a J? Seriously crazy size. I would have never guessed!!! There was a specialty store in Portland, Oregon I went to. The lady at Nordstrom's referred me to it. Try googling specialty bra's (or lingerie). This store also helped women that are cancer survivors - so maybe something along those lines too.
Sorry for any spelling errors... I can't spell!
I too had a problem at first finding larger maternity bras. The women's center at the hospital here had a bra fitter and styles to buy. so check your hospital there and see if they have a maternity shop. they can order sizes too.
~ my standing joke was.....at a DD before kids.. my first son had me up to a EE and F.. second son I ballooned up to G,.and H ~ if I was going to have another baby I might end up at L, M, N, O P... but I didn't have anymore. >^.^<
here are two websites for 'comfort bras' these were my favorite for around the house and nighttime. I still wear them (albiet getting worn out) for sleeping in although long past nursing.

I'm sure you know this.. but on the fitted bras, it's best to keep your number size proper length..42 etc.. they will ride up if too 'long' and then you get no support and it makes your back hurt. my first son I just went bigger all around and the second time around was fitted and it made a huge difference!!
all the best!!, MK
