I bought Medela, since they made the same breastpump that I'd gotten. When I compared their nipples to Evenflow brand, i couldn't tell the difference. Same size, same shape, same texture .... but way cheaper. So I bought Evenflow. Just a simple bottle and nipple combo - nothing fancy, not a ton of weird parts to put together or try to figure out. With all the BPA-free hype a few years ago, I considered buying glass bottles (I had carpet in the house at the time, so didn't worry about breakage).

Good luck, and congratulations!

With my oldest we just bought the Walmart brand, and he was fine with that. Our youngest probably would have been fine with that as well, but he had a specific health issue that required us to buy Dr. Brown's. Those are very expensive ($4/bottle compared to $1/bottle), but many people swear by them.

I would try something inexpensive like Gerber or First Years. if you have problems you could try something else, but most babies are perfectly happy with those ones.

There is no one bottle that's better than another. My daughter started with the drop in style of bottle with her first child. She also used a couple of other brands. They all worked just as well. The eventual reason for the drop in bottle was so that she could pump into the plastic sac, freeze it, and then just drop it into the bottle frame.

Congratulations! I read where you were trying to get pregnant and asked about IVF. I'm glad that you were successful.

Smiled at your question...it really comes down to what your baby likes and what you can afford. My second daughter wouldn't take anything other than the playtex bottles with the brown nipples...my first took the Dr Brown. I say buy one of three types you would consider and see what your baby likes best. Yes that means washing the same bottle(s) for a couple days but it will save you money inthe end.

I am a childcare provider, so I see a lot of different bottles. I personally hate the bottles with lots of parts (Dr. Browns, Be Free), they are a pain in the backside! Avent is probably my favorite, I like them because the are simple and they have 4 different nipples with different flow. The playtex nursers are nice as well.

When they were newborns I used the Medela bottles, since they went with my breastpump. They worked well and had different nipples for flow to grow with the kid. Once I stopped breastfeeding, I used the NUK orthodontic bottles (since they were bigger and it's easier to shake formula in) and those worked really well too. Pretty sure MOST babies will drink from any bottle you choose...you will only have to adjust if you get a fussy one, but I wouldn't worry about that.
