I want to take my children to this exhibition. They saw related pictures and some videos. However i am curious about taking my little girl at age 7 to there. Have any of you ever been that exhibit with your little kids? If so, did she/he like it? I need some opinions.

So What Happened?

We went there last weekend. I and my 11 year girl - she wants to be a doctor by the way- loved. She asked a lot questions some of i couldnt explain. There were a lot of medical students and they helped us :) My 7 year girl did not exactly understand the bodies were real. She liked but got bored. When we left she told me that she was scared. I asked her which one gave her this feeling. And here is her answer: breasts of woman..Then she told " I know that i will see liver, heart and etc. but ı dont know i ll see breasts!..
i was very surprised when i got this answer. I have been thinking why she was scared from breasts. I found the reason and I want to share with you. She has a medical problem and she has to be in hospital for 3-4 days at certain intervals. During that time they connect her to heart rate monitor by attaching sticky circles on her body ( i hope you know what i mean because it s difficult for me to explain it in english) . So, when her treatment is finished, she really get nurveous when they try to remove this sticky circles. And here is the answer why she was scared in body worlds exhibiton : nipples were like that sticky circles...
I found this interesting and wanted to share with all moms..

it's absolutely fascinating. my initial reaction to hearing about was 'ew gross!' too, but it's amazing. i took my then-teenaged homeschooled son to it and we both loved it, but i'd have taken much younger kids too. it's not presented at all in a gory get-a-reaction sort of way, it's very matter-of-fact and scientific and really incredible. i'd totally take her.

I think it is fine other than at the end there is a pregnant mom with a baby. I was taken aback as an adult to see this poor mom and baby so I imagine a child might be upset by it to. Maybe skip the last group of bodies.

I saw this before I had my daughter and though it was great. I would take my now 6yo so that she could use it to learn about the human body. I did see the pregnant mother and stages of fetuses but they had that section draped off when I went so you should be able to avoid it if you think your child would get up set.

I think this exhibit is fascinating. While it is real, it almost seems a bit fake as the bodies are well preserved and there is no blood. 7 is hard though. If your daughter has seen pictures and is interested she may be ok. If she is mature and loves science and medicine she may love it. It is very educational. Maybe check out some of it online to gauge. Not every adult can handle it!

Frankly it depends on the maturity of a child. I think 7 is a bit young. Kids 12 and older would probably be ok.

Eeeeewww. Sorry. You couldn't pay me enough to go and see this. I would definitely not take kids, but that's me.

If it is what I remember seeing in my area long ago, I think it's just fine. Have you googled it? Try doing that and see if you can tell what level it's on.

It depends on the kid. My daughter at 10 was a bit freaked out by it. She saw it again at 16 & wasn't impressed, lol.

I agree with Kerstin. My husband took our oldest son when he was 11, and they loved it, but both of them were a bit disturbed by the pregnant woman. It was just so sad. It might be too much for a 7 year old, but you know what your daughter can handle. You can always skip that part of the exhibit.

I think you can tell by your daughters personality. I would NEVER take my daugter to this because illness and injury freak her out. In preschool, her teacher broke her leg and came in to show the class that she was doing ok and show off her stiches. The other kids thought it was cool, my daughter threw up and had to come home.

My brother had knee surgery and she would NOT go near him until he was fully healed and no longer on the crutches.

If something is bothering her, even something very minor, she has a hard time telling us because she's nervous it's going to be bad.

This is common for her age, or so the mamapedia moms tell me :) So I would never take her, eventhough I enjoyed it immensely when my husband and I went. Show your daughter some anatomy books from the library and see her reaction. If she thinks they are cool, then take her. If she thinks it's disgusting and doesn't want to look at it, then don't take her. If you do take her, just prepare her in advance of what she will see. Or maybe just tell her about it and ask her if she wants to go?

Be prepared. Don't go as the only adult; take another adult so that if your younger child gets disturbed you can immediately leave with her but the older kids can see the exhibit with the other adult.

These exhibits are useful but a young child could be upset by them, for sure. It depends entirely on the child. If you are feeling at all nervous that she will be upset, then go with your gut and don't take her or take her elsewhere nearby while the other children go with another adult.

My child finds these things (and skeletons and organs in jars and all other health and body stuff) fascinating but she is 11 and very interested in medicine. At seven she might have had a lower tolerance for this.
