Don't know if you want to come into Cedar park or not, but there is a HUGE field of them here in town by the Police Dept. area. I took my son there last year and this year! They are awesome and beautiful. MILLIONS of bluebonnets!
Hi Mamas,
Has anyone found a nice safe spot to take bluebonnet pictures in the Round Rock/N Austin area? I have only seen stuff along the highways. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Thank you mamas for your wonderful suggestions! I now have plenty of places to check out! I love this site...everyone helps each other out!

There are lots of places on the Brushy Creek bike trail.
Old Settlers Park has a great area - over by the Rock 'N R waterpark.
We went this weekend to a great little field off Breaker Lane just west of Mopac. If you're heading west on Breaker from Mopac, turn left at the first turn off - it's the Pickle Research Center I believe. There is a small island in the road that disappears when the lanes merge. We parked just before the merge and the field is off to the right when you exit the car. There was another family there when we got there - and some great pre-trampled spots to plop the kids in. :)
Another great place that is south, is along 360. If you're heading south and turn left at the light at Lost Creek Blvd, there's a little road that heads down toward Forest Trail Elementary. There's a big hill sloping away from 360 with beautiful bluebonnets and it's pretty safe, because you're not standing in the road and you'd have to walk up a pretty steep hill to get to the road. We've never had a problem there ... but it is on the south side of town.
If you drive on 1431 there are a couple of great spots. I don't know the name of the street but there is a credit union on the right side of the road , if coming from IH35. Turn right on the road right before this bank. Great patch off to the side there. Also there is a great patch at the post office in Cedar Park.
Bull Creek and 45th street. We were just there on Friday. We parked behind the TxDOT building. You have to walk a little, but there is a field nearby full of bluebonnets. We saw one other family that morning taking pictures, but many others bring their dogs out there for walks.
The Austin American Statesman has been posting photos with locations that readers have been sending in. I noticed some of them are in Round Rock and Georgetown. Here is the link.

I will tell you, if you are willing to drive to Barton Creek Mall, I saw the most clever people, using the small hills on the back part of the mall (back where Nordstroms and the Theaters are) parking lot to have their photos made. They looked easy to get up on and it was perfect for a photo because you are on a a natural elevated space, but with Bluebonnets! Very natural Texas backdrop. It looked like people had been very careful to use the same spots so they did not crush any of the bluebonnets.. I loved just sitting there watching families and a Bride pose..
