It's usually perfectly normal. It's always happened to me, and I had two children and it only took me a month each time to get pregnant -and I was 35 and 38.
Ever since I started my period when I was eleven I had blood clots during my period. I'm 21 now and it happens every month still. I've never had a baby so I'm wondering is this normal and will it affect my chances of having a child?

That's a great question for your OB/Gyn...If you have painful periods, I'd have a check-up soon to see if you could possibly have endometreosis. That condition is a common cause of infertility.
Good luck!
I am with you. I always pass clots. I will be 30 this year and have two children. So if your cycles are regular and you are Oing than you have a good chance at having a baby. The clots did not hurt me any and we had a m/c in July-09. Only thing is I can not use birth control because of the higher risk with clots and all.
normal. This will not affect your chances of having a child. I have this issue, too and I have two precious, healthy children.

My best friend had them all the way through high school and even now at 37. She has 3 kids and is fine. Don't worry, you will probably be fine.
I have had infertility problems and can tell you, blood clots WEREN'T in my fertility books.
No this is not normal. You need to go to the gyn and have a check up. Whenever you have a blood clot bigger than a quarter it is in question . It is better to get check up and they will probally do a byopsy to see were the bleeding is coming from. Aloha I hope I was some help to you!
I passed clots from the beginning. Later, I learned that I had endometriosis but I don't know if the two are related. I suggest seeing an OB/GYN. If you have endometriosis you want to have children earlier rather than waiting because eventually the endometriosis can block your fallopian tubes.
I used oral birth control and was never told that I couldn't because of the clots. I don't see the connection between menstrual clotting and birth control. Yes, oral or hormone birth control does put you at a higher risk for heart attack or stroke because of clot formation but the clot formation that they're concerned about is in your blood vessels. The clots in your menstrual flow are formed from the menstrual blood that is sitting in your uterus and not flowing in your veins. Sitting blood does clot. My periods were irregular and sometimes as long as 40 days in between periods. Plenty of time to sit and clot.
But ask your doctor about birth control and clotting. And get an exam to know if you have endometriosis. I think clots in the menstrual flow can be normal and unrelated to fertility.
Later after reading J.L's post regarding factor V Leiden: This disorder is talking about clots forming in veins and not in the uterus! V., please do not take her post as an indication that you possibly have this disorder.
I was a clotter too, didn't affect my fertility at all but it can affect health. If you think its a problem you should check with your OB/GYN. I have 4 children and had 2 m/c, the problem got worse and a year after the 4th was born I had an endometerial ablation to lighten my periods and slow down the clots. Its helped alot. I can't have anymore children, but I was done anyway... 4 dashing boys is plenty! Now my period is 3-4 days as opposed to 10-12 days.
