Bleeding Scratch

Has anyone's child ever had a scratch scar their child's face permanently that didn't ever scab. My daughter scratched herself one week ago and had a little blood that I thought would immediately scab. The scratch is about 1//4 inch long. Per her doctor's recommendation, I kept the wound moist with neosporin and then vaseline and it has not really scabbed, but is still red and visible although seemingly healed. I hope the redness goes away and was wondering if anyone has had something like this become permanent. Thanks for any answers.

What can I do next?

It will go away.
Just don't expect it to go away in 1 week.
Her scratch is benign.
My Daughter had a scratch on top of a bruise type thing, when she was 2 years old. Bleeding. Bad cut. Longer than 1 inch long.
It went away.
But you have to be patient.
Your daughter's cut, is really small.
Healing... takes time and the skin coloring goes through phases, of healing.

I had 14 stitches in my face from a cat attack when I was 5 years old... the cuts were very jagged and down to the bone, and across my whole face/cheek area. Fortunately, a plastic surgeon was on duty at the ER that day.

My scars are very, very minimal... really. People don't realize they are there unless I point them out or I don't wear make-up and even then they don't notice. And really, the one scar on my cheek that is a little bigger, I actually think it's kind of cute and would feel naked without it!

My scratches compared to your daughter's would make me think she would not have a scar... and if she did.. it would be very faint and barely noticeable.

(update)

I'm thinking the scars were more evident (puffy/red) for about a year or so after the event.

I know there are scar creams you can use in the meantime, but not sure how well they work. I know the younger the scar is, the better they work. I've heard good things about Mederma.

Here's a pic of me..

I have about 5 scars showing on this side of my face and no concealer on them.. The largest one is one my cheek, horizontal about an inch long closest to the bottom of my nose. They have looked like that ever since I was a kid.. no redness while growing up.

My DD has scratched herself pretty badly before. I was scared one time that she would scar, because it stayed R. for over a month. Now you can't even tell anything happened. How old is she? The younger she is, the less likely she will have a permanent scar.

A cut has to air-dry to form a scab. A constant film of Neosporin or Vaseline would prevent this. If the cut has apparently healed, it's probably just fine, and will take a few weeks or possibly months for the redness to fade.

My grandson fell on his face in a driveway a month or so back, and scoured off a huge patch of skin on one cheek. The wound was bad. HIs parents got it cleaned at the E.R., and then allowed it to heal on its own. The abraded skin has all grown back and is barely even pink now. In another month or two, there will be no evidence of an injury besides two small spots where rocks dug in deeper. Young children heal fast, and don't tend to scar much on the face.

My daughter was attacked by a rooster when she was about three, and there were deep cuts near her eye. She's fine and scar free.

I would either put some vitamin e oil on her skin and/or get a pure cocoa butter stick on put it on her scar. It may take a while but it will help. I had a breast reduction at 16 and many scars but the cocoa butter stick did help my scars fade back to a normal skin color. It may never go away but with time it will fade back to a normal skin color. remember to keep sunscreen on it when she is out it in the sun. may be put some zinc oxide on the scar so it does not burn. Good luck.

Unfortunately, my 20 year old has a little scar on her face that isn't extremely noticeable. It's more that I see it because I'll never forget it. It was very long when she was tiny. She was only 10 weeks when she did it. But these 20 years later it's still there and very small.

My daughter has a mark on her face from a trauma received about a year ago. I know what the doctor said it was but unsure of the spelling of it. My daughters looks like a bunch of blood vessels now under the skin and it has not "healed" like a normal scratch/wound. We are going to monitor it and see how it heals progresses over the next year or two since she has so much growing to do. She is 6.
