If you have had one period while being on the pill you are as safe as the package says is possible. On the more risky side, 7 days on the pill is supposed to be ok.
I have been taking the pills and I was wondering if there is any way to know if they are working? My and my bf have gotten tested and would like to have unprotected sex. But I am worried. Would those Ovulation tests help? I know its 99% effective but I still have that 1 % of worry. Maybe it is because it is my first time on the pill. I dont want to have anymore kids right now. Any other info or words from experienced pill takers would be relieving. Thanks.

hello!! i was on the pill and for got to take it a few times my self cause i was takeing care of a new born baby and when i got ready to have my 2nd kid it took me 5 years to get preg again. yeah make shure you take it every day on the same time and if u dont think you are doing something right you should talk with your doctor or witch to the ring or use the shot that they have out now.i just had my last kid 3 months ago and i am shure are glade i dont have to worry about that stuff any more cause i got my tubes tied if you dont want any more kids you can do that too . it great haveing sex and not haveing to worry about getting preg again. i am married .thanks E. r
Well, if you're not married and you don't want more kids, maybe avoiding sex is the best way to go.
I took the pill forever (10+ years) and on more than one occaision would forget. I switched to the patch and found that to be a lot easier. I never got pregnant on either; although I wouldn't recommend forgetting pills :) .
Just be consistent taking it everyday preferably at the same time. If you think you'll be forgetful, talk to your Dr about the patch or the novaring. I think once you're on it, you'll realize that it's pretty safe. Honestly, I don't know anyone who (having taken their pill correctly) has gotten pregnant while on it. There is a chance for failure if you take certain antibiotics so you want to check with your Dr or pharmacist if you have any questions.
If you want to be sure that you won't get pregnant, just use some contraceptive foam along with the bc. Even though nothing is 100% (unless you're fixed) you should not have a problem. Also timing is an issue. If you are extra scared, keep a calendar and don't have sex during that 2 week mark between periods.

Well my doc said give the meds a good 3mo to be fully active and for your system to adjust. If you have a peroid then your usually out of the woods. Also dont forget about the last week of the pills are inactive (sugar pills) so use back-up then.
