I have issues with hormonal birth control. Not only weight, but mood, skin, hair... Everything goes wonky. I have tried various pills, the patch, the shot, nuvaring... Nothing works with my body.
Soooo... Condoms it is, lol.
Usually BC pills make me gain weight. Anyone have experience with a BC that you lost weight with or at least remained stable? I just need a temporary fix until my hubby get snipped.

Abstinence until he gets snipped?
That might hurry him along to get it done.
Research Nuva Ring. It inserts in the vagina and is really easy. If it's uncomfortable during intercourse it can even be removed then put back in. Once it's time to be done that month you take it out. Then insert a new one in a week.
Copper iud is what I use and I'm very happy with it.
I just want to throw out there that you'll need to use some form of BC method after the vasectomy too, until he gets the all-clear at his follow up appointment a few weeks later.
I couldn't use any kind of hormonal birth control and I was dead set against another pregnancy and didn't trust barrier methods to do the job. So we simply abstained until my husband got the all clear. If your husband hasn't even made the appointment yet, I bet abstinence will hurry it along. ;-)
Hi! Wish it were that easy. Every pill reacts differently in every ones body. So while one person may experience weight loss, another may not. And all BC pills mess with the hormonal system, something we women need to be super careful about.
I say, "hurry up hubby and get 'er done"! In the mean time, condoms, abstinence, ovulation tracking (not always 100% accurate).

I never had issues with weight from ortho, but avoid the depo shot.
BC pills were messing with my head big time to I stopped those. Used condoms for a while and got tired of those. I opted to get the Mirena IUD and so far I have not had any issues, course I have only had it for about four months.
Nuvaring is the only one I didn't notice any kind of side effects..
Depends on when your husband is getting snipped. Non hormonal birth control should not be an issue with weight gain, so if it's just a few weeks condoms may do the job - IF and only if you are committed to using them correctly.
For a really short time you may also simply consider abstinence... maybe it will give him some extra motivation to get it over with.
For an intermediate timeframe I would consider the pill. Combination estrogen/progestin pills are worse for weight gain, you could talk to your doctor about trying a progestin only "minipill". One of the downsides of this type of pill is that it needs to be taken at the exact same time ever day for maximum protection.
If you need longer term protection (hubby is getting snipped within the next few years) consider an IUD. I have a Mirena which has not caused me any weight gain or side effects, even though I was susceptible to it on the pill. A copper IUD has no hormones and should not mess with your weight at all (Paraguard) - but can cause stronger periods. But IUD's are meant for long term birth control, they are expensive and only worth it if you keep them for several years.
Good luck!
Nuvaring worked great for me. No side effects.
i take otto tri cyclen lo for 8 years now. no side effects for me. weight gain is neutral.
