Birth Control Question...

I was on orthotricyclin years ago and have recently gotten back on it. However, anytime I get outside, even if it is in the shade, I get burned to the point of getting sun poisoning. Has anyone ever experienced this while on birth control and if so, what solutions did you find?

What can I do next?

I have found that I am allergic to the ortho type BC pills. Maybe you should try something different? I have a different reaction to each different one too. I have tried the full dose and the one that is lighter.

I am on Avianne now and they are great! There are lots of different pills out there....I would recomend switching!

Good Luck!

That must be awful for you. I would say switch to a different BCP. I used Orthocyclin and it was good for me. I am not a sun person and fair, so I wear caps, hats, etc. and sunscreen. I think if you mention this to your doctor he/she can have you try something else. Maybe a barrier method would be better for you...? There are lots of types of BControl.

Best wishes.

Birth Control does have that nasty little side effect on alot of woman...solution- avoid sun, use sunblock, try another form of birth control (IUD,etc...) and always talk to your Dr. about switching birth control pills that may have little or no side effects...now I sound like a stupid commercial...sorry, hope this helps, good luck and congrats on your little blessing, M.
