Please tell me which form of birth control is the best. I just don't like taking pills daily. I know for sure that I will forget to take them. I am thinking about the one that you take the shoot every three months. Anyone who has used it before, Please let me know.

Thanks

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for all your help. I am still undecided. I am going to talk to my OB/GYN and ask him which form of birth control he thinks is best for me at this point in my life.

God bless everyone.

Thanks

A.

Dont do the Depo shot!!! I know many people that have gotten pregnant while on that. Try the Nuva ring ( I've heard good things about that), or theres another one that can last for 5 years, but they can also remove them if you decide that you want to have another baby before then. Stay away from OrthoEvra also, there was a civil suit peniding agains them linking the patch to heart attacks, blood clots, and even death. Hope this helps!!

i can personally reccomend the nuva ring. i loved it and it was comfortable for me. as for the depo prverashot you will gain weight on it and it takes forever to get it out of your system so you can actually havea baby if thats what you choose. i personally never tried it but i have had many frineds on it that werent happy with it and i have known a few that had gotten pregnant. also i tried the iud mirena which lasts for five yearsand i was so excited to have it but it didnt work out. my body rejected it and i spent a month in the hospital before they realized that it was that that was making me ill. i almost lost my life over it so make sure you think it will be right for you.

The best will be the "T", a doctor puts it in, it's also called the "y", it lasts 5 years! and it doesnt make you gain weight, it's great.

Hi A..
My husband and I chose to just go "old fashion" and use condoms. I was on the pill for years and when I got married in 2001, we ended up having 2 miscarriages 9 months apart. Part of the reason was from being on the pill for so many years. I tried the Nuva Ring after the birth of our first full term baby and my experience was not good. I bled for a month straight. I am not a fan personally of IUD's or the shot more cause of the experiences my family and friends have had on them. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to determine what is best cause every method has a flaw.

I hope whichever you chose, that you have no complications or horror stories of your own.

Be safe and do all the research you can before making your choice.

Be blessed

I took DepoProvera vs. birth control pills & had two problems with it. I bled all the time as if I was on my cycle. I started taking it right after the birth of my daughter. When she was 8 months old, I became pregnant with my son. So, not only was I bleeding all that time, it didn't work the way it should have as a contraceptive. It can take almost a year for the bleeding to stop while taking the shots. It also made me very "moody" & caused some weight gain.

I used it with disastrous results. I gained alot of weight (40 lbs) and bled for over a month and a half straight. When I had no more uterine lining to shed, I was passing parts of my uterus that were never meant to leave my body. I had three miscarriages afterwards because it took forever for my uterus to be healthy enough to sustain a pregnancy. My daughter is a miracle baby because I was told the damage would never be corrected enough and I would continue to miscarry if I were even able to get pregnant again.
Good luck.

I have the Mirena IUD and I love it! I had it insterted after my first daughter 3 1/2 years ago (painless) and then after 2 years we decided to have another child. I had it removed, this was also quick and painless, and then 6 weeks later I was pregnant. Then after our second daughter was born in January I had another one inserted. I really like this form of birth control, there is nothing to remember. I was very lucky with the first one because I stopped having periods after about 6 months, this time I am still having periods but they are lighter. Of course check with your doctor to see with choice is good for you. Good Luck!

Hi A.,

You may want to ask your Ob-Gyn about getting an IUD. It is a very tiny, thin device that is inserted quickly into the uterus in a few seconds by your doctor (personally I had no discomfort at all.) There are different types, I got the one that lasts for 10 years. There are some that last for 5 years. You can have it removed by your doctor any time if you change your mind and decide you want more children.

There was a "scare" in the 1970's because some women had problems with ectopic (in the fallopian tubes) pregnancies, but science has come a long way since then. IUD's are safe now, and millions of women use them in Europe and the U.S. I have had mine for over 4 years and am very happy.

A great benefit for people that have heavy periods is that you have only a tiny flow every month once the IUD is in. I had very heavy periods and have almost nothing now, it's great.

Wishing you the best with whatever you choose,

C. N.

Ok after my son was born I did the birth control pills. and I had a hard time remembering them. So I talked to my doctor about having my tubes tied, but she reccomended that I use the Mirena.

I have had the Mirena in for the last 2 years and I love it. Its good for 5 years. and at this time I actually have no periods. and if you choose to have more kids, its easy to remove.

So the best thing I can reccomend is talk to your doctor for what would work for you. If you have any more questions feel free to email me at ____@____.com

Thanks.

Nuevaring is a good one for me. It's a ring you insert every three weeks and take out for 1 week to have your menstral cycle. You don't have to think about it but every three weeks.

Whatever you do, don't use an IUD. I had one inserted a few years ago and it busted through my uterus, and was floating around in my abdomin for a year before my doctor realized it and surgically removed it. It's highly unusual bu very dangerous if it does happen.

I got the IUD, and I love it. The one I got is for 5 years. Its called the Mirania. I don't get my period either. Its a wonderful thing, but it takes about 6 months to get no period, and some people spot the whole 6 months. I didn't really. I spotted very little, and really never had a period after I gave birth on Feb. 28th. Good luck!

depo provera is the shot. For most people it works great. I say most because I know of one person who got pregnant while on it, but no form of chemical birth control works for her. Just watch your weight on it. I gained 20 pounds a year for 3 years while on it. I also know other people who were on depo and gained weight as well. It also stopped my periods, which was great. Just make sure you get all the info on it and make sure it's for you.

depo sucks! you will turn into the monster B*tch on the shot! just being honest, it really does mess with your hormones. I have my tubes tied after 2 kids.... it was the ONLY option for me. Birth control has it's flaws and it can take up to 1 month after starting birth control for it to actually work effectivly. so just remember when taking birth control to use protection for a while too, just to be on the safe side.

I've been on the depo shot for years. Was tired of always forgetting to take the pill, and when I did, I would get sick to my stomach for hours. Have been thrilled with the depo. No weight gain from it or any side effects - plus my period is basically gone. The only thing I've seen that you may want to investigate further, is how it affects you if you are on it and eventually want to get off of it and have more children. Personally, I give the shot the thumbs up! Good luck!

I know several people who have done the shot and regret it. All of them became very sick, one which had to stay in the hospital for several days. That huge dose of bc really takes awhile for your body to adjust. Just thought i'd let you know! Good luck!
