Has anyone ever used Gdiapers or Bumdiapers. They are a biodegradeable diaper?

What can I do next?

I use the Bum Genius 3.0 One size. We wash and reuse both the diaper and insert.

we got them just to see. unless you are totally into saving the earth, they aren't worth the $$. They are MORE expensive than disposables. A pain to flush (we just toss them in the trash).
If you want to save the money and planet at the same time, use cloth and wash them yourself.

I've never heard of Bumdiapers but we used G Diapers with our son from the time he was 6 months until he outgrew the larges! We loved them, they did very well for us. We never had any issue flushing the inserts at our house but my mom's house had older plumbing and flushing them did not work so well. We did compost them at my mom's house and we could see that they did completly biodegrade in about 3 weeks. I loved it! My son rarely got diaper rashes because there is no plastic on the linersor the covers. The one downside is the cost. The liners cost more than disposable diapers. We have a 7 month old baby girl now and find the cost of the liners prohibitive. Instead of using the gDiapers liners with her, I just use prefold cloth diapers in the gDiaper covers and wash them at home. We use the gDiaper liners for when we leave the house for long periods of time. Either way, we manage to be a disposable free house. All in all, I would highly recommend gDiapers! If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to answer them for you. Feel free to send me a message. Take care!

Hi M.!

Contact Skye at www.diaperstyle.com She is located in Gilbert and is wonderful! We met with her and she showed us everything we needed to know about cloth diapering. We chose to just use prefolds with thirsties diaper covers...they are much more inexpensive and work just as well as these other brands your talking about. She could really help you with all your questions.

Good luck!

I don't know if anyone mentioned these, but there are diapers called Nature Babycare. They are biodegradable/compostable. They go for about $10-$13 per pack of about 18-44, depending on what size you get. We used to be able to get them at Target but they no longer carry them. Now we order online. Just google Nature Babycare & a bunch of websites that sell them will come up. You'll probably want to look around for the best price.

Good luck!

I did try Gdiapers when they first came out. Unfortunately, the product did not fit well on my son who has always been long and skinny. I really like the idea as we do a lot in our home to be environmentally friendly. We did not have too many problems with flushing the inserts, except at homes with older plubming. I noticed that Gdiapers have changed their design significantly from when I first used them. I am guessing that the redesign would have fit my son better and prevented the leaks. I will likely try them again with our next child. Good luck!

We used gdiapers briefly, but they leaked too much (even the redesigned ones). I have heard they don't work so well for boys. My friend loves them on her daughter (now 18 months old). We used cotton prefolds and 7th generation disposables at night. We now use the 'sposies at day care and bum genius at home. I'm somewhat ambivalent toward the bum geniuses. I don't think they fit my son that well. They leave a little red mark on his thigh where they come together. This happens even though he is a skinny kid. If you want to go the bum genius route, buy just one or two to see if you like them before dropping big $ on enough to keep you from doing laundry continually. We loved the prefolds fastened with a snappi and covered with a whisper wrap. in Albuquerque, Baby Bear on Lomas and about Washington has prefolds, whisper wraps and bum genius diapers.

btw, to lessen the impact of so much laundry, we dry almost everything on a clothes line, which is not taken into account when they do the environmental comparison of disposable vs cloth.

Good luck, and thanks for trying to figure out a way to lessen the impact of diapering on the environment!

I think you might mean Bum Genious cloth diapers. They come in one size fits most & snap down from 6.5lbs to 35. They are fantastic! they fit our 18 mo old great & cost a bit upfront but have saved us a ton of $$.
I had wonderful service from Meredith at
www.gogonatural.com

gdiapers are WAY pricey...
