I've just recently moved to Orlando/College Park area. I'm looking for a great local playground for my 6 year old with monkey bars at the very least. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

Oh there are some great playgrounds around here!
Here's a link to Orange County's site that lists all of their parks (but the City of Winter Park and Orlando have some good ones too)
http://www.orangecountyfl.net/dept/cesrvcs/parks/?REDID={...

A really good one for the older kids is in Winter Park called Lake Island park (but people refer to it as Castle park). It has a huge structure to climb on and play.

There are also some free/inexpensive splash parks in Orlando, which are worth the drive. Downey Park has a really nice one (which is East off of Dean road) and there is a new one called Dr. Phillips Park which is awesome. It's out off of Sand Lake. Both are only a dollar or two to get in and are well worth the drive/cost! (Considering how much people pay to get into the water parks around here)

Hope that helps!

There are so many great parks in Orlando!

Capehart, off University, has to be the best kept secret around -- shaded, water sprinklers for the kids to play in, and fun playground equipment with bathrooms and such. I think the earlier, the better -- because the camps are there in the afternoon (after lunch).

Two new parks on Howell Branch in Winter Park/Maitland are only good if you go early early -- no shade.

College Park has Dartmouth -- but no bathrooms, though.

Lake Eola is great.

Dr. Phillips new park (although 25 min. away) is beautiful on a lake - a nice breeze.......although you hate to drive - - it is the best park since it combines Lake Eola & Capehart Park.

Hmmm, aside from that, there are the smaller parks -- Phelps in Winter Park is large & shaded.

Lake Lily in Maitland is small & not crowded -- lots of wild life to feed too.

Oh, and Eastmonte Park off 436/then Ronald Regan Blvd. -- I think that is just outside of Maitland going toward the Altamonte Mall. No sprinklers -- but it is large & has everything else.

Oh, and a little used park is Wade Park off St. Andrews Blvd. in Winter Park. It has a tire swing & trees to climb on.
Delaney Park is nice too -- small though.

We are park goers -- three children under the age of 7!

Welcome to the neighborhood!:)
