So, I keep hearing that there are belly wraps that you use after the baby and it really helps with shrinking your stomach back - and if you have a c-section (like i am scheduled for), the support is wonderful during the first week or so.

Do these work and if so, what is a good brand out there?

What can I do next?

The hospital (in Elk Grove Village) gave me one with both of my c-sections. It made a HUGE difference in how I felt and how well I was able to get around afterward. I didn't think it would make that much of a difference until I decided not to put it back on after my shower one day.

Find out if your hospital gives you one after a c-section. If not, then google c-section binder. You'll want one that covers your entire abdomen, and they can be kind of expensive. It would be much better if your hospital provides one and they can bill it to your insurance. Also, if your hospital provides it, the nurses put it on for you while you're still numb from surgery and get it nice and tight (not too tight!) so it's as supportive as you need it to be.

I don't know about the shrinking part. If that were true, I don't think anyone would have bellies after babies!! My stomach did go back to normal quickly, but I really think that was due to body type and genetics. As far as support, mine was awesome. I just used the one they gave in the hospital. It really helped so much. They will put you in some kind of band or binding belt after your section. I would just continue using that. If you've not had a c-section before, then I can give you a few tips. Walk and move as soon as you can. That helps tremendously with healing. The faster you start moving, the faster you'll feel better. Use the PILLOW. They will give you this little pillow. Use it against your stomach when you bend, cough, laugh, and just about everything else you do. I don't know why exactly, but those little pillows are lifesavers!!!

The hospital will give you one and I really liked wearing it for a couple weeks. It made my stomach and the incision feel more secure. I am not sure about it actually shrinking your stomach though. My stomach looks just like it did before a baby but that is because I did not gain a lot of weight and I lost it all. So stomach wraps are great but they don't perform miracles.

I didn't have one with my first 2 c-sections but the hospital gave me one with my 3rd. I loved it! Not only did it make me feel better I really think it did help to shrink my tummy. I wore it for about 2 or 3 weeks. Sorry I don't know the brand. I would ask the hospital if they give you one. If they don't then try to find one online.
