Hello mom's! I hope that you can help me with my question. I will be having a scheduled C-Section on Sunday to deliver our 2nd daughter. I had a C-Section with my first daughter also, but it was not planned. My question is about the belly binding. This is something that I really want to do but am unsure of what belt, etc to purchase. I looked at the "Belly Bandit" but really didn't want to spend that much money on one. Granted, if they are worth it, I guess I will. However, I know there are other similar items out there but just don't know anything about them, or where to purchase. For instance I found the CSectionRecoverKit in a baby's magazine at the doctor's office and looked it up and seems ok, but still want some personal feedback from you moms. Any help would be greatly apprecited! Thanks in advance!!

I just had a C-Section last week, and they gave me a really nice belly binder at the hospital to start wearing the day after delivery. It has really helped with the pain and when I need to cough or I laughed.

Keep in mind every one is different. I read one lady said her second c-section was easier. Mine was much harder. Not sure why but maybe because I was 2 years older and almost 30 but mine was so much more painful...maybe it was because on with the 2nd child I realized I didn't have to be a hero...I needed to sit back and enjoy this baby as it was my last.

I did bind my stomach with both c-sections. The wrap was actually something my mom kept from when she had me. It looked like a wide piece of elastic with different rows of hooks so you could adjust the size. But I would think even a girdle would help as long as it has some ability to keep your stomach tight..but it would need to be adjustable to get tighter as you get smaller.

My doctor gave me nothing and said nothing about binding. It was my mom that told me about it and it makes since when you think of different cultures binding their feet etc. It helped me in two ways...It helped me with moving around and picking up the baby as those muscles were so sore and along with breastfeeding I was back in my same clothes within 2 weeks of delivery. (again everyone is different so don't expect those results- and I pumped alot and produced a lot of milk because I had to go back to work). My mom also said the doctors informed them to sleep on your stomach to help as well. My only problem with that is my milk leaked more with the pressure.

Bet of luck to you! Hope this helps.

After each of my 3 c-sections, the nurse provided me with the elastic wrap for my tummy. So if they don't give you one...ask. It was a huge help!

Good luck!

I think you are far better off making your muscles do the work. If you use something to support them, they aren't working to recover.

My second c-section recovery was nothing like my first. And that was a good thing! It was so much easier-less pain, I was up and moving sooner (still had to take it easy of course), could drive sooner, overall much, much easier.

I did not have a C-section but I had a hysterectomy about 9 yrs ago.

At the hospital, right after surgery my Dr. had some sort of abdominal binder on me. I work that thing faithfully. As soon as I go the go ahead from Dr. I was still wearing it but I exercised as well.

I had no issues with swelly belly at all and I still have my flat belly.

It can't hurt to wear one.... I would ask the Dr. for one he/she recommends.

I've never head of belly binding, but based on what you are saying, it sounds like what my doctor told me to do, he just didn't call it belly binding. He told me to wear tight, compression underwear after my c-section. my first child, I think I did it for 4 weeks or so, but for the 2nd and 3rd I did it for 6-8 weeks and it seemed to make a difference in my scaring. It is VERY minimal. So, I guess what I'm saying is, I don't know if you need anything special, you may just need some tummy control panties from Walmart for 6-8 weeks and that will do it.
