I have a son who just turned 4. He has had for a while angry problems. When he gets mad he hits, kicks, and throws. I am walking on eggs shells around him not to set him off. When he goes into these rampages its not pretty and really hard tp get him out of it. His daycare is having the problem with him. He tells me he doesn't want to go,its boring he says. Not really sure if he is just strong willed or if there is a deep underlying problem. He does not like to be away from me. When i leave to go to the store its a major issue for him. Not sure what to do next. Any advice would be great. Thanks

What can I do next?

Don't let him get the best of you. When my child has a tantrum, I totally ignore her and if it's really bad, I put in earplugs and let her cry it out. As long as he's not destroying things, hurting himself or others, just ignore him and hopefully he'll realize that his tantrums do not get him anywhere.

This doesn't sound like normal strong willed behavior. These could be the beginning signs of something larger that will only get worse as he gets older. Start by talking to your pediatrician.

My nephew went through something very similar after his dad was deployed to Iraq. My sister in law took him to see a child psychologist. After a few visits he talked about his sadness of his dad being gone, and his fear of his mommy leaving, at 4. Sometimes kids are way smarter than we give them credit. You may want to consider taking him just to talk to someone.

Check out the great web site- ChildrensBehaviorHelp.com-
they are super.
Alsomake sure he has NO sugar- little bodies cannot handle- probably big bodies as well.
Minerals are very important too for behavior- what does he eat. I am seeing more and more problems w/ missing nutrients.
In great health, Kia
