It's driving me nuts! What is that show! It was like inspector gadget, but black and white and his name was Max if I can remember right. The beggining was him going through a ton of safety doors. Help me ! What was it?? Maxwell Smart? Maybe??

Yup its Get Smart. He also had a telephone in his shoe. His partner was 99 and a woman. It was before my time but I remember watching re runs all the time.

Get Smart! Don Adams, Barbara Feldon. It was in the mid-'60s, I think. Mel Brooks was one of the creators. I loved that show.

Dragnet got a mention below. Dragnet started in late '40s as a radio show before it went to television, and it's regarded as one of the most influential police shows ever. But it was never a comedy. (Except for moments here and there!)
