Bed Wetting Kids

All three of my kids are bed wetters. I use the plastic under sheets on their beds instead of pull ups so they experience the discomfort part of it. I have a strict no drinks after 7 policy. They all go potty right before bed. I'm not sure what else to do! I realize that in many cases it's just something they grow out of but does anyone have advice about some other things to try? Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

Some times this can be a hormone problem, considering that all of your children are doing this you might want to take them to a uroloigist. There is a hormone you body has, as it gets dark outside it makes your body slow down, this includes the you getting tired and having to potty. They can test for the missing hormone and treat the problem with a nasal spray that will help. Good Luck!!!

I know something that my parents recommend and seems to work for my other siblings whos kids wet the beds, is to try to wake them up in the middle of their sleep and have them go to the bathroom then. That way they have the chance of sleeping for a while, then bathroom then they can go again when they wake up.

My daughter whos potty trained has only wet the bed twice in the 2 or so months that she's been out of the pullups. Both were when she was sick and slept longer then normal. What I'm guessing would be a good expansion of waking them up, would be to take note of how long they can hold it in when awake and then maybe figure how long from when they sleep to when they'd need the bathroom would be. (so if its 7 hours, if htey sleep at 8 have them use the bathroom at 2:45 or so). It might take a few times to test around with when to wake them up to use the bathroom, but I heard it works great!

I have the same problem with my 13 yr old. It has cost me alot of money and causes stress in our family. It always stinks downstairs and I feel hopeless myself! I have even paid 1200. for a bedwetting program and he wont do it! I am really upset about this situation myself.

My 8 year old is going through the same thing. At first I thought it was the typical no drink, go potty type of things then her dad and I got divorced and I thought maybe the stress of this. Well it has been 3 years now and still happening. I have had to take her to the doctors and put her on meds to stop it. She is on the smallest dose possible and helped the first 3 weeks, we are back to wetting every or every other night. I am taking her back in for a 6 week check to change the prescription. This is something that you could take to the doctor about and see if it is something worth trying.
