So I am freaking out a little. My son woke up this morning with a rash on his back and upon closer look something bit him about a dozen times between the shoulder blades. At first i thought maybe fleas, we do have a dog, but no one else has any bites and they aren't in a "flea bite" area which from what I understand is the groin, arm pit, ankle areas. I googled bed bugs and his bites look a little bit like one picture I saw, but most pictures showed big red bumps. His are not big at all and they do not itch , and from what i read they itch like crazy. Has anyone had any experience with this or any thoughts on what it could be?
Ok. I did not see any black specks on the sheets or red specks, which from what I read are smashed corpses. I guess that is a good sign. They definitely do not itch. He'd be complaining and I have not heard one complaint. I'm wondering if it could be a heat rash. It has been extremely hot here the last week. I do appreciate all the input. I will never watch another episode of Infested again. I know that is what has me freaking out.
I recently got bit by bed bugs while at a resort in Disney World. They do itch like crazy and the more you scratch the bigger and redder they get. The bites wouldn't be in just one area though. Typically on arms, legs, ankles. Also there would be little tiny black specks on the sheets, that is their feces, this is a huge indicator for bed bugs.
Maybe they are flea bites or spider bites?
It could be fleas. If the flea is in his bed, it may not bite in the same spots. My DD got bites across her back recently and we are dealing with fleas (it's apparently a bad year for fleas). If it is bedbugs, do not mess around. Get an exterminator who uses heat.
Not prickly heat is it? My daughter had that a week ago from all the heat. Stay off the internet for that kind of stuff, it will make your head spin with outlandish situations and diagnoses! Best bet is to take him to his dr. if you think it's something serious...
we just got rid of bed bugs here. It took us 6 months! They are a beast to get rid of if you do have them. My landlord didn't tell us that the master bedroom had them when we moved in. They usually stay with 1 person (not on them, but they choose a host and mostly only bite that one person). Ours were ONLY in the master bedroom which is on the top 4th floor of our townhome. Mosquitos itch me more than bed bugs. I do have scars though and they itch like crazy but everyone can have a different reaction to them. Not everyone will itch and not everyone will have red bumps.
First thing to do is call out an exterminator. We had 4 companies come out for quotes. The first one was with chemicals and they wanted $900. The 2-4th company was with the heat treatment (no chemicals) and the cheapest one was $1500 and the most expensive one was $2400. Even though I hate chemicals and pesticides, I didn't have a choice because I just can not afford to pay for the heat treatment. So, I am currently bed bug free for 3 months. Usually they say you are in the clear after 3 months of no bites, but I've also heard that once you have them, you pretty much have them for life. It's almost impossible to get rid of. We are saving up now so that when we do move, we can just toss our furniture and literally everything in the master bedroom and buy new. I don't fully trust that they would be 100% gone unless it's been at least a few years with nothing. Also it has nothing to do with how clean your home is. All 4 exterminators commented on how clean our home was and how it was one of the cleanest they had ever seen.

If you have them you'll know....Look along the creases of your mattresses as well. They tend to hide in those crevices. Make sure you get a mattress cover that zips and encases the mattress. That will help as well. Yep you don't want an infestation because if you do well they are hard to get rid of.
Could just be a rash. Bed bugs are very noticeable. They generally bite in groups of three. Most often the bites are in a straight line. They itch like crazy!! I fought a bed bug issue for awhile. I would scratch them so bad they blistered. Check his mattress, pillows, and blankets. If all the edges are clean (no bugs, white eggs, or brown spots) then it is most likely not bed bugs.
