I use a form of Yasmin called Yaz, it has lower hormones and works pretty good for me and is really good about clearing up any acne.
Hello ladies. I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a birth control pill they like? I am on Necon (generic) right now and since having my son, I have noticed that the week before my period and the week of, I am VERY moody, bad cramps and VERY IRRITATED, does anyone have a pill that doesn't do that, or lessens the severity of the symptoms. Before my son, I can't remember what my moods were like but I didn't have bad cramps as now, (Went on the pill origionally because of depilitaing cramps, so the pill does help). Just really need something for the moods. Thanks.
I have my annual appointment coming up soon, so will talk to dr. then just wanted to go in with some suggestions.
Well went to my apt. Ugh! My doctor put me on Yaz, and I am going to try it and see if it helps, she gave me samples which is always a good thing. I am not confortable with the ring or the IUD so those were out for me, but thanks all for the suggestions.

I would not suggest taking any Birth Control PILLS, however there are other options, like having an I.U.D. put in. "Paraguard" look it up on line. I had it put in after I had my son and I still get my regular monthly cycle, (which every woman needs to flush their body monthly). It does not have any hormones in it and it is a ten (10) year plan, in which you could have it taken out at any time, if you choose to have another baby. It was a simple in office procedure and my insurance covered it all...
I loved being on the new Yaz, there is not generic so some insurance it may cost you more. I was sad to find out that my insurance would not cover much of it so I had to switch to another. Orto Cyclin or however you spell it. But if you can find out about the cost of Yaz through your insurance I would highly recommend it, it cleared my skin up I had a shorter period and I felt a lot better mood wise. Good luck.
I tried something like 10 or 12 different pills and none of them seemed to work well for me, for one reason or another. The very best luck I had was with the Nuva Ring. That thing is awesome. You have to insert vaginally and as long as you're fine doing that, it's really a super great form of birth control. Because it's worn internally the hormones are at a very low rate because it's constantly secreting. The biggest reason I really liked it was becasuse it helped keep my moods more consistent. Plus there's nothing to remember but the day you put it in and the day you remove it. Ask your doctor about it. I had very good luck with it after years of searching.
I've been on Orthotricylen for years (except when I stopped to have a baby). The generic is Trinessa. Good luck finding the one for you!
I was on a pill called EstroStep a few years ago. It gradually increases the amount of hormones you are taking as the weeks go on. I don't know if that would help you or not, but it might be worth asking your doctor about. Good luck!
I also love YAZ. My period was cut in half!!!!
I can't say for sure about the moodiness, though.
See if your insurance has a mail in option, this could cut the cost signifigantly.
Yasmin isn't too bad. Although I was told if you take a lot of tylenol that it's not good so I might be actually switching back to Alesse which I liked.
