BatteriesPlus - Employee Broke My watch....help!

Saturday afternoon I went into the Plano location (Central Expressway) with my $2.99 coupon. The employee helping me seemed almost annoyed to do a new battery installation...he also was rough handling my watch (Citizen ladies watch - 2 1/2 y/o...birthday gift from my husband). He turned his back and did something to my watch then turned around and said something is wrong with it!! The knob to change the date/time he completely pulled out (and now the knob does not stay in & you do not have the ability to change the date or time). Then he went on to say...the 'real' problem with my watch is....the gears are dirty and as he was saying this, he was pressing down on the gears with his finger (this watch I wear only when I leave the house)!! He then added.....he sees this all the time! OMG...I couldn't believe it. He broke my watch then claimed the battery was fine.

What should I do....is there anything I can do? I don't want anyone else to end up with the most expensive battery replacement expense....I am so upset he broke my nice watch.

Can anyone recommend where I can take my watch for repairs...someone honest and trustworthy....thanks moms.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks moms...your advise was great! I sent an email to BatteriesPlus customer service and on the first business day I received an email reply back from customer service. They let me know someone locally would contact me. A few days later someone did contact me by phone and email and that regional/district manager had me take my watch in to the store manager and they then sent my watch out for repair. I received my watch back last week and appears to be working again. Thanks again moms for all your great advice!! I'm so glad this has been quickly resolved.

Definantly report them to the Better Business Bureau! I would contact the manager by phone or see if you can find the corporate number to file a complaint. good luck. I wear relic/fossil watches. I buy them at the Allen outlet mall and they will change my batteries for a fraction of the cost. I'm not sure about your watch, but you might want to get an inexpensive, but really good watch in the mean time.

They do a great job at King Arthur Jewelry and Clocks. I don't have the number but it is right next door to Einstein's Bagels on the SW corner of 15th and 75 in Plano near Collin Creek Mall.

I would recommend that you take it back to this particular store and ask for the manager. He (if he has been trained properly) should repair your watch.
Good luck!

Send the corporate office a certified letter, return receipt requested explaining what happened. If you pay to get your watch repaired, send a copy of the bill for the repairs. Be nice but firm on asking them to pay for the costs of the repairs.

I don't know where you can go - sometimes places like sears, macy's etc. have watch departments and they'll do this type of thing for you even if you didn't buy it there. http://www.batteriesplus.com/t-contact.aspx - I would contact the customer support and report the store and employee if you have his name. Approach it from a trying to help keep their rep clean attitude vs. an angry person attitude (even if you are :)

They need to know they have a bad apple, and it's possible they could take care of the repair (at another location) to make it up to you. Good luck!

Talk to the owner of this store ASAP! I have personally never had a problem with this location but his "workmanship" with your watch was not right.

A great watch repair store is in Allen. Allen Jewelers (next to Halloween Express) McDermott and 75) I have been going to them for 12 years for everything with my watches.

Hope this helps

You must remember that Battery Plus employees are not trained jewelers. If the watch was that special to you, perhaps you should have taken it to a professional......but then you couldn't use that $2.99 coupon.
