I am also interested in this idea. I am a Professional Organizer. I don't have time to run a group, but if one is created, count me in!
Hi there - OK - per my original request, looking for barter groups only for women in the west suburbs of Chicago, we haven't been able to find anything that meets what we're looking for. But we've had some responses here and I've had some personal responses with someone agreeing to be a moderator if we start a yahoo group. I'm going to set that up but here's my question, WHAT AREA/LOCATION PARAMETERS WOULD WE WANT FOR THIS GROUP? I'm thinking western suburbs? I think we have to have parameters because really, if I'm going to trade something - be it an item or service - I want someone to be within 30 minutes or so driving distance - I don't want to have to go to Chicago or drive 45 min - 1 hour. What do you think of western suburbs including, but not limited to women living in: Oak Brook, Wheaton, Naperville, Carol Stream, West Chicago, Bloomingdale, Glen Ellyn, Glendale Heights. Let me know what you think. Thanks!
Thanks for all responses - per some discussion with several of you and ideas, I have created a yahoo group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WSWBarter/ called West Suburban Women's Barter Group. Thank you to those who offered to moderate, but it turns out that the person who creates the group has to be the moderator, so I'm going to try it and see how it goes as far as how much work it is. I think this is a great opportunity for this group.

Hi L., have you tried www.NapervilleYardSales.com? It's just like craigslist but in our area only. Things for sale and I have seen some bartering. I would be up for bartering too!
I would be interested also. I'm a CPA and can do tax returns and bookkeeping. Keep me in the loop!
count me in too......contact me anytime
Hey L.,
I don't know of any, but would be interested in joining one if you find them.

I have looked around on www.barterquest.com , but I have never signed up or traded on it before. Just thought I would throw the website out there to ya.
freecycle.org This is a sight that you sign in as a member and everything is offered or asked for...for free. You have stuff someone can use, and someone else might have something you need. It's great...you should try it. It is very gratifying to make someone else happy with your un-used stuff! Best wishes!
This sounds like a very fun idea. I barter online with women from my due date club, but would love a local group also. How about we start a yahoo group??
I am willing to barter any of my services. certified doula, certifed infant massage instructor, Lamaze Instructor and breast feeding couselor. I teach group and private classes

Is this something we could maybe start on our own? I have a candy business and would love to join a barter type group.
This could be considered a barter group but not for services it is for items that you may have and no longer need or use and visa versa. It is through yahoo and called freecycle, you can join as many towns as you like. I have seen barterquest but it did not seem like something I would be comfortable joining, i do not know why it just did not strike my fancy.
