Julie's right, but ask the girls how much they charge as it may be less
Does anyone know about how much babysitters get paid these days? (I'm talking about teenage babysitters from the neighborhood -- not professional sitters.) I have not used a sitter other than family members but I have two teenage girls (16 and 18 years old) living next door to me and would like to start using them when family can't help. I've asked around to find out how much they charge now-a-days, but everyone just tells me, "Pay what you feel is right." When I was a teenage babysitter (many, many, many years ago) I got paid $1.25 a hour. I KNOW that's not acceptable in today's world, but I don't know what they're making now. I don't want to insult anyone, so I could really use some guidance on this. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Btw 7 and 10 and hour is the going rate around here!
I pay $5 per hour. I would ask the teenager to see if they have a set rate.
We were paying $7.00 an hour, but I think it depends on the age and experience as well.
we pay $5 an hour during the day and during the week (unless it is a big noight out then we will go up) on the weekends we pay $10 an hour and we tip them. So we will go out at 7ish and get home about 12-1ish and most of the time they get at least $80-100 from us.
