Hello! So im trying to make some extra cash right now, especially for the holidays! I have decided to take up babysitting. I am 25, a full time SAHM to a almost 2 year old girl. I am looking for work but am having quite a hard time! I live in a two story home with my daughter and husband. I have babysat for friends/family but that was usually for free because they do in in return. I am not cpr/first aid trained. I am not looking to provide full time childcare, just for hours at a time. Maybe for the day or night if need be. My question here is with my circumstance, how much should i charge? WA state min. wage is currently $8.67 but is going up to $9.04 in January. So what is reasonable for hourly, all day price, or even over nights? Do Ages of children make a difference? Number of kids? Day of the week? Also, considering i will provide food/drinks, not including milk/formula/baby food of course. AGAIN..i am Not looking do be a full time childcare provider..just babysitting.

What can I do next?

Well, sitter city has a calulator on its site that tells you is standard.

I am always looking for someone to babysit for about 3 hours a week (doctor appointments, date night, getting x-mas presents...) so I get that you are just babysitting and not looking for a full time thing.

I know that, at least in my area, people are alwaysnlooking for overnight sitters, so if you are up to that you M. well make a killing.

I am sure it depends on each area.

I have a 16 yr old and due to her schedule with school and cheer she has no time to get a part time job. So, she babysits. She is quite popular with a few families.

She is CPR trained, she interacts with the children well while she is there.

She averages $12-$15 per hour/CASH. The last family paid her $10/hr.

I think $10 is pretty much the "going rate" around here, she is fortunate to have families who pay more.

Good luck with it.. I am sure you can get some business with moms who need to shop, and for date nights!!

call around to the local day cares and find out what they are charging. But if I was you I would first call the hospital and find out when the next child/infant CPR class is, because for me and most mothers I know, that is a requirement for full time care.

It is illegal in WA state to babysit other people's children without a License. It's ok to watch Families' children.....but not ok to watch others. I'm not trying to be rude....just not wanting you to get in trouble!!!
Getting First Aid and CPR trained is always a plus - even just for your own daughter......
