How do I find a babysitter?
I am in the same boat as yourself for my 2nd and 3rd children and after looking into a few online agencies I am going through sittercity.com. I recommend you post your job READ the reviews folow-up on references and send your candidate a questionnaire before interviewing them. After you interview and select your candidate have them meet your child/ren for a trial run and observe. It is a TON of work but worth it. Good luck!
Call your village hall, ask neighbors, call local schools and churches, ask your friends, call the park district, ask your mom, call your relatives. Or, if you want to save money, stay home teehee!

I would ask friends or relatives first, if their not available, I'd ask if they know of anyone that would be interested. Co-workers who have sitters? Or, you could place an add on Sitter City. I've had very good luck with the service, and found 2 girls that have worked out well. I don't know what your looking for as far as a sitter, ie.. full time/part time/occasional? You can place your ad stating your needs & interview potential sitters. Good luck!
check on retired teachers from local daycare centers. Word of mouth is best .

Just another suggestion, if you are looking for weekend and the occasional sitter try your local highschool when they are back in session. The teachers know the students and they can help you match what you are looking for. Our school has a pre-school program and child development classes and our teachers would be happy to help the kids get jobs to support their education.
