I highly recommend the Ergo. I used it at around 15 or 20 pounds. Before the Ergo I had a lot of luck with the baby Bjiorn. They were both life savers. Good luck!

We found with my granddaughter that flannel swaddle blankets stay snugged the best especially when she was very little. As she got a little older (3 monthish) the swaddle sack started working pretty good. BUT we also had 2 that were sewn for her and they worked the best. My youngest granddaughter really wanted to be swaddled until she was about 10 months so we had to have a larger one made for her when she was about 7 months as we could not find one that fit. We did find the organic cotton one was just too slippery and kept coming undone. Good luck.

I used something called a Baby Bundler. From the descriptoin below it sounds a bit like the Moby wrap. It was essentially a big strip of fabric, and instructions on different ways of wrapping it around the baby. You could wear forward facing or facing you, slightly horizontal or upright. It felt both more secure than a sling and less likely to suffocate her. But it was large and complex, and looked kind of funny.

I used a Moby and loved it! It was so comfortable. I never felt any strain on my shoulders or back. I was even ale to nurse in it at WalMart! If you're interested in a ring sling, I recommend looking at Rockin' Baby Sling. They're stuff is fashionable, well made and right now CHEAP! Their double layer ring sling is only $30! That's amazingly cheap.
I know a lot of people really like the Ergo carrier as well.

I have a Moby, an Ergo, and a baby K'tan. Of the three, I've am in complete adoration of the baby K'tan. Its so much easier to get on than either ot the two, exceptionally soft like the Moby but super supportive like the Ergo.

MY first daughter hated to be swaddled or confined in any way so I could never get her in any kind of sling or baby wrap. I also found slings awkward. We used the Baby Bjorn and my daughter loved it, but when she started getting heavier (around 6-8 months), it really started to hurt my back. It never bothered my husband so he used it with her until she was over a year old. I switched to the Ergo and that worked well for me as the baby got bigger.
With my second, I used the Moby Wrap and LOVED it. (My second daughter loved being swaddled so she loved it to). She was also colicky so I would keep her in the Moby Wrap almost all day and do my work around the house and she would just sleep while I carried her. It is kind of a pain to put on, but I got used to it. It was well worth it for me because it was the only truly hands free baby carrier that I have ever used. With any sling or baby carrier that I used before, I always felt like I needed to keep one hand on the baby so that she didn't slip out or flop around (at least until the baby was 5-6 months old.)
One other note about the Moby Wrap, I used it mostly in the cooler winter and spring months so it worked fine for me, but I think if you are having a spring or summer baby it might be very hot to use when the weather is hot. (You are essentially wrapped in about 15' of fabric). That being said though I guess that I found just about all the carriers hot in the summer.
I saw one poster mention the Baby K'tan. It looks very much like the Moby Wrap, but she mentions that it is easier to put on. Might be worth checking that one out.

My second is one year old now and I am back to using the Ergo so I can highly recommend that one as well.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I have used Over the Shoulder Baby Holder slings with all four of my babies. It is extremely easy to put on and adjust, can be worn numerous ways, and is excellent for nursing. The only drawback is that even with the thick padding, my shoulder aches after a while. For that reason, I did try wraps from both Moby and Parents Invention. The wraps take a little practice learning to tie, and aren't as convenient for nursing as a sling. It was probably my tying skills, but the Moby just didn't seem as secure as I would've liked. Parents Invention seemed a little more secure, but again not really convenient. My youngest baby is much heavier than my others were, so I had a lot more problems with my shoulder and back while using the sling. A few months ago, I finally purchased an Ergo Baby Carrier and LOVE it! The Ergo distributes the baby's weight evenly over my back and hips, keeps my son in a healthy position, and even has a nice little zip pocket for money, keys, etc... You can also purchase a matching backpack to attach to the Ergo, or use separately. It is the perfect sized diaper bag. My son was already able to hold his head up by the time I bought my carrier, so I didn't use the newborn insert. Nursing in the Ergo is a little tougher than a sling, but certainly do-able. What works best for me is taking off one shoulder strap to lower my son down enough to nurse. When he's finished, I just put it back on. It's easy to readjust without waking him. For quick trips I still love my ring sling. However, if I'm taking a long walk or trying to get a lot done around the house, my Ergo can't be beat. Plus, if I wanted I could use it to carry my 2-year old on my back. I hope this helps.

When my babies were little, I used either the Snugli that my mom used for me, or a Peanut Shell sling. The moment they get a few pounds on them though, I shift to my Ergo (this time I got the baby insert). I love this thing and can wear it for hours, as all the weight is on my hips instead of my shoulders or back. To explain how comfortable it is, I was wearing my 32 pound son in it while I was 7.5 months pregnant. At that time, I had to get my 2 year old more independents since that couldn't continue, and the baby was using all that space. :)

I used the Hotsling (you can get it on line at Babies r Us and elsewhere) during the first three or four months, and really loved it. My daughter loved it too -- and it is very comfy for mom and baby. Very easy to use (it is just one piece of fabric). Once she could hold her head well, I used the Bjorn with her facing outward -- she loves it! I hardly ever use a stroller, and can carry her in it for hours and my back feels fine.

The Ergo Sport is very easy to put on and has an infant insert. It supports the baby on your hips instead of hanging from your shoulders. You are totally hands free! I used it for shopping and could carry all my groceries easily. You can also change the position from carrying the baby on the front, to carrying on the back when she old enough. It's supposed to be useful up to 40 lb. I think. My daughter liked being upright, which the Ergo allows. The slings are good for babies who like to be more horizontal, but you always have to keep your hand on the sling, so it doesn't sound like something useful if you are running around after a 3 year old. I used the Moby Wrap until my daughter could hold up her head b/c I didn't know about the Ergo yet. It was cuddly, but it has miles of fabric and you have to have it wrapped around you ahead of time. It takes a long time to put on and adjust. I haven't tried the K'tan, that might be worth looking into. Congratulations!

I really loved the mya wrap when they are little and the ergo, when they were bigger. I tried the moby, which some moms swear by. I hated it! I am very petite and I was drowning in fabric. Plus, I just wanted something Ii could throw on.
