My daughter had her 9mnth ck up. She had gained 6lb in three mnths and now the docotor wants to see her every mnth till 1yr. She was growing steady and then had the huge jump. The docotor told me to watch her calarie intake. How do I do that. She eats a very health diet but the eating at night. She also has a lump on the frontal lobe and the doctor wants to keep an eye on that also. Anyone else have problems with there child gaing a high weight rather fast?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I like to thank everyone for their help. We didn't cut her caliores. But we felt taking her from fromula to milk would be a better change. And to say..She is doing great. She has thinned out nicely and had a 10mnth ck and weighed in at 1once more. So we will see what happenes when her 1 year ck comes up. She is even happier then before and even more active.

I say get a new Pediatrician. Gaining weight in the first year is critical. If you aren't stuffing her with fries and burgers (you get the point), then your Pediatrician should relax.

I say, find a new doc.

Hey L.,
I guess just talk to your doctor to see if she is eating what she is supposed to be eating.

I was scared of the same thing. My daughter eventually just evened out. She must have been going through a growth spurt and ate more.

Anyway, I have 10 month old twins and want to say, God Bless you for raising them alone for 4 years!! How you did that is beyond me. Well, I guess you do what you have to do. You poor thing, you must have been exhausted, Lord knows I am, haha. I struggle myself but get some relief at night for an hour when my husband comes home. I commend you, b/c it is sooo hard with twins, I hardly stop for a glass of water or to go to the bathroom some days...

I am glad that you found someone to care about them. Anyway, Good luck with your daughter and your concerns.

From,
Another twin mom

I always thought kids under two that calorie intake was very important. As a nurse we reccommend not restricting calories in babies. Or so I thought. My baby gained a lot of weight and til this day still has a lot of weight. I noticied you are a nurse but are going to massage school?? I am a nurse as well and I work from home just found that interesting. www.livegreeneasy.com

My daughter was 24lbs at 6 months. They were concerned, but wanted she see how she would be once she became more active. At her nine month checkup her weight remain the same but she got longer. To say all of that... As she becomes more active the weight is going to change and once she begans sleeping through the nights (of course the eating habits changes as well). I wouldn't be too concerned. Is she breastfed? How many times does she eat through the night? How much does she weigh? Is she crawling or walking? I believe there are many factors, other than her calorie intake. Both of my babies were big infants. My daughter weights more than my son when he was her age and she ate less than him. Don't worry it will all change once her activites increase.
