Baby Teeth and Healing from a C/S

I am so excited, my 6 month old cut both her bottom teeth this week. When can I expect to see the top 2?

Help!!! My body is healing extremely slow from pregnancy. I was very petite and fit prior to pregnancy and I am now struggling horribly with my weight (25lbs extra) and abdominal pain. (My feet are also extremely stiff if I sit or lay down for extended periods of time...any idea why???) Anyhow, I have had 3 ultrasounds that revealed nothing abnormal and 1 CT Scan that revealed a 2.2cm fluid collection at the base of my uterus; I am not pregnant. I am going in to a new doctor's office Tuesday to hopefully find out what the fluid is/was and get a referral to a physical therapist. I don't know if my internal incision has scar tissue build up, tore, or just my overall abdominal muscles got so stretched out that it's gonna take a long time to heal. Swimming and short walks cause me pain which is crazy considering that I used to hike over 20 miles a week and bike nearly 100 miles a week. Anyone else have issues with their abdomen muscles after deliver? How long did it last? What measures did you take to get back on track? I am sorry worried I won't ever be back outdoors doing the things I love so much!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for the website, that helps a lot. You guys are great! As for my C/S, I had a visit with a new OBGYN today and I will be starting physical therapy anyday now. From what I was told, my tie-off point may have included more muscle than it should have or I tore the internal incision. Time is my healing factor now.

My baby is eight months old today :) She got both her bottoms at the same time 3 months ago, in March, and her top right just broke through her gums last Monday with the tooth next to it pushing through. Her left side two are on the way as well but not through the gum yet.

The top baby teeth come out at about 7 months but my daughter's came out earlier, it just depends.

I don't have an answer for you about a C/S because I didn't have one. But I do have a cute page that I found about baby teeth that explains when they should come in, and has a diagram that you can print out and put the dates that the teeth break through. It goes really cute in a baby book. You can see it here at: http://www.anbesol.com/baby/chart.asp

Hi R.,
My son is 11 months old. He got his first two bottom teeth at six months as well. It was a couple of days after Christmas and it was so cool! We couldn't stop peeking at them. One came in and then the next one almost the very next day. He got his top two front teeth within weeks and then 2 more aside of those. Teeth coming in is one of those things that just varies from baby to baby.

A C-section is major surgery and I'm sure you've heard that before. You might also have heard that it usually takes about 9 months to a year before you really start to feel "normal" again. So, even after 6 months, you're still healing. I'm experiencing some similar problems although I wasn't all that fit before my pregnancy, but I was one of those weird people who actually LOST weight with pregnancy. For me it was due to the strict diet while having gestational diabetes and then afterward, I breastfed and tried to go back to work full time. (it was horrible and I regretted trying to go back. I too am very career oriented so now I work from home PT) I ended up losing 16 lbs. in addition to all of the baby weight so I was lucky although now it's getting harder to keep it off since I'm now a SAHM and my son is starting to slow down on the breast feeding. The weight is slowly creeping back on and a lot of that is due to one of the things you mentioned....my joints are really bothering me too and I'm not sure why. Let me know if you find out and I'd be interested to know what they say. For me, my feet also stiffen up and it hurts to walk after sitting for any period of time and especially when I wake up in the morning (or middle of the night). I try to take walks to keep my legs in shape but my shins really bother me now. My wrists especially hurt. Turning the key in the lock to the right is really painful. I'm over 30 and I think I have arthritis since in my 20s like my mom so I just attribute it to that, but since you mentioned your feet being stiff, I made the connection. When I had my C-section, they pumped me full of antibiotics and fluids and I thought I was going to pop like a balloon! I still have pain once in a while at my incision and it stills feels like thick scar tissue when I press it and it's been almost a year now. Sometimes I even think the weather affects it and it's more tender sometimes.

Sometimes I wonder what damage pregnancy does to your joints over time. I try to eat healthy and take vitamins, but the lack of steady sleep isn't that healthy when it comes down to it. I also had a large baby who got stuck for 7 hours at 7 cms and they had to take him via C section. My pregnancy was really painful due to severe nerve compression in my leg although my memory has faded, I know it was awful. My son is awesome...he's just B-I-G!

Well, I hope the physical therapy helps you. I think I'm going to look into something like that too as soon as I can get some health insurance. Let me know what works out!

All the best,
Lucian's Mommy
