Baby Teeth, After They Have Fallen Out...

Um... what exactly does the toothfairy DO with the teeth she collects?? My mom had mentioned once that she had saved all of my baby teeth and both my brothers teeth... I have a little box that I'm saving my daughters teeth in, but only because I don't know what else you're supposed to do. Keep them for sentimental value? Toss them?? What do YOU do?

What can I do next?

If you decide to buy one, try entering code 1212 for a possible 15% off if it is still an active code. =0)

I actually saved my teeth - I think my mother would have just tossed them. I wanted to be a doctor, so I was fascinated by anything even remotely medical when I was growing-up.

I'll probably keep the first one or an important one (one that gives us fits in the course of coming out).

Otherwise, there's really no reason to keep them......I guess.

I threw them away. They get pretty gross, I think, if you keep them.

We keep them. The tooth fairy takes the tooth box from under the pillow and leaves it on my son's dresser and leaves the $$ under the pillow. She leaves the tooth box on my sons dresser because she knows that we would want to keep the tooth because it's special. Then we put the tooth in another little box. That way the "under pillow box" is empty for the next time.

Keep the first tooth for sentimental value, then take the rest to be discarded at the dentist office. They do not mind at all.

I'd save a front tooth and a back tooth so you can show your child what they look like and the differences later. I'd also save one or two for the teenage years when you can demonstrate to your child the destructive effects of soda by soaking a tooth in in for a few days. The others I'd toss. To me the teeth don't have the sentimental value - the picture of your child proud of herself or himself holding the tooth is the sentimental value.

I don't understand why you would take the others to a dentist office to discard them - they are just bone and you toss bones from food in the regular trash all the time.

I kept the very first one and then tossed the rest. When my grandparents passed away we all went to my grandmother's house to go through her things. My Dad found a box with all of his teeth and he was totally grossed out (as were the rest of us!) They were disgusting - I think they get worse and worse as time goes on? I highly doubt your daughter will someday turn 30 and say "Hey mom, I really hope you saved my mouthful of teeth. Can I have those now?"

My mother saved the first tooth that my brother and I each lost. I think she probably threw out any additional teeth - keeping all of them actually seems a little creepy to me (although I don't know why). Asking your dentist as the other person suggested is a great idea, but judge on how you feel. Are you sentimental about them at all? If so, keep them. If you think keeping just one will do the trick, then do that.
