B.B.
None of my family have dimples, but my son does. He still has them at 18 months, but they aren't deeper. It's true, that they could not be as obvious when he starts loosing chub. They could stay, though.
I love dimples. Nobody in my family or my husband's family has dimples. My baby does have a slight dimple on one cheek - looks like a dent in his cheek when he laughs ... lol.. not extremely obvious but people do notice it and it's so cute.:) I was told that its because his cheeks are chubby , as he grows he looses his chubbiness and it will not be visible anymore. Is it true? It's not big deal for me even if it goes away, but I am hoping it gets deeper and cuter as he grows.. lol .....

I read once that a dimple is from a muscle not being properly connected ... so it should be a permanent thing! I love them too....
Oddly, my son was born with 2 beautiful dimples, one on each cheek...but, now he is three and he lost one. He still has the other, it is not as deep as it was when he was an infant. I have no idea what happened to the other one. Weird.
It could stay - my 8 year-old daughter has a cute dimple in one cheek!
True dimples are there forever. My sister and are are both quite thin with long faces but neither of has has ever lost our dimples :)
My husband has some of the cutest baby pics I've ever seen. He had the same one cheek dimple, and still has it today. He was a very chubby baby, scrawny teenager, muscle-y undergrad, and now my handsome average 30 year old hubby. lol I have no clue if it's common for them to disappear with weight loss or not, but it never happened to him. You'll just have to wait and see. :)
