I never did the actual baby food. My kids just never liked it. So right around 11 months I just started with easy table food. I would give my girls mashed potatoes, oatmeal, yogurt, crackers, cheerios, puffs and some of the soups. Like Cambell's Chicken & stars. Those star noodles are tiny and so soft it's really easy for babies to eat. Don't really worry about all the jar baby food. My doc told me those are really more to just teach babies how to eat and that they really don't have much calories or vitamins in them. So I just breastfed my girls until they were old enough for table food.

As others asked, not sure what foods if any you have started. Best to start with fresh veggies or fruit. It is hard on their systems to digest ANY grains at first. Use as much organic, and or local produce as you can. Avoid, common allergens at first. These are: dairy, soy, wheat, corn, nuts.
If you are still nursing, you can mix some foods with your milk.
You can save plenty of money and not buy pre made baby food. When you make your own, you can freeze it in ice cube trays to use later.
Hope this helps.

We got a book and made our own baby food for my son. We started foods at 4 moths old. Now he is a great eater. You can find books at most stores with baby products. Your dr should have some guidelines as well that will help. If you choose jar foods, read the ingredients and preservatives. I do not regret the time it took to make our son's food. And seeing him eat, and what the other kids in his day care eat, I am glad we took the time. If you want more info send me a note and I can get you some.

Not sure if you have already interduced foods, and are trying to go to table foods. Most softter foods, in small bites at this age. My son is not a huge meat eater, most kids this age are not. So try to get the food groups in how you can. We substituted beans for meat, since he loves them.

Good luck

I'm not sure what type of advise you're looking for. I'm assuming you've already introduced all the pureed fruits and veggies. Arround 1 year, your baby should be able to eat almost any of the foods you eat, as long as they're not too spicy and there are no allergies. Just make sure you cut everything into very tiny pieces to avoid choking.

I used baby food in jars with all my grand kids. Now I think there are healthier options. I love my favorite cookbooks.

I also bought a Pampered chef Food Chopper and when I gave table food to the toddlers I would put some on the cutting board and whack the heck out of it. About 15 times each serving.

When my kids started wanting real food and not formula or breast milk, they got what we were eating. I would mash it, or puree it, more often than not, I would just cut it up into small pieces. I really did not pay much attention to the common allergy foods, I figured if I wasn't allergic to it, they most likely weren't either. Why would I feed myself, or my kids, something that I know I react to?
