My 4 year old has been in ballet since she was 2 and they have a show every 3 months (yeah it's a lot but she loves it!) it is the ONLY time she is allowed to wear makeup. She has skin allergies and the only make up we have found that doesn't cause hives comes from Avon. She loves the Bronze Flash eyeshadow it's called Eye Radiance Eye Color and it comes in a tube that you smooth over the eye. Since she is allergic to soap we use the Mark milk cleanser to wash off the make up when she is done. We also love the glow baby glow lip gloss (also Mark) I use that one myself. If you go to Avon.com you can get to the Mark section and click on the Shade of you section to find colors that match her skin tone if you are trying to teach her how to pick the right shades. There is also a virtual make over on Avon.com that you can play around with. Good luck!

I don't see why products would be unsafe for tweens (I let my 4 & 3 year old put on my makeup when they play dress up), but you don't specify what exactly you're looking for. Is it a sensitive skin issue, dye/fragrance allergies, etc? Are you looking at skin care regimens or make-up? I just started with Avon so I don't have all the answers yet, but I can certainly look up your questions on our training website. Shoot me a message or an email at ____@____.com with your specific concerns and I will see what I can find out for you. :)

Hi T.,

I doubt there are any that are safe at all but go to www.cosmeticsdatabase.com to see if there are any. This is a very reliable website for the consumer.

Check out the ".mark" products on avon.com. I've used a few of them myself because I like some of the colors better and most of them go on pretty lightly. They have really cute fashionable colors that don't look like they were made for your girls' grammy :) [some of the regular avon stuff is too intense for young girls!] The products are all designed for younger people. They have skincare by .mark too, I think. I would check it out! The "snap to it" compacts are really fun to fill up. You might look for the eyeshadows and blushes on eBay though, before you pay full price. I got double the amount of new eyeshadows for the money buying them that way to fill my big compact.

Avon has a line called 'mark' and it's geared for teen/young adult skin.

It's interesting you asked this because my daughter just had her 12th birthday and I had always promised to buy her a skin care kit when she turned 12. mark had (may still have) a great deal on the cleanser, moisturizer with SPF and facial mask stuff. Cutesy names to mimic the high dollar products at department stores but lower cost and higher quality than what you could find at the drugstore.

My agreement is that if she can show me she can take care of her skin, then her next birthday we'll introduce lip gloss and MAYBE eye shadow. I hope I can ease her into makeup. Her skin is gorgeous, but I remember the peer pressure to wear makeup, too. *sigh*

I would check out www.cosmeticdatabase.org . You can look up products to see what types of chemicals are in them and they rate them from 0-10. I used to sell Avon, and I love some of their products, but unfortunetly, I found a lot of their problems contain hazardous chemicals. I have sensitive skin and I am concerned with my health, so I had to stop using most of them. Good luck!

I love Avon - the only mascara that I use comes from Avon. I got some Avon for my 13 year old who is just starting with make-up. I got her the mineral make-up, the eyeliners, washable waterproof mascara, lipgloss (their lipgloss is great) and the prices are really good.. For skin care she actually uses neutrogena acne wash and sometimes the all in one cleanser cloths.

I won't pitch you but I will say you should research Arbonne products- they are all natural with no animal by-products. much safer than others out there.

I would be considering why your teen needs those products first. If they are wanting to begin wearing makeup I would start with just a little lip gloss and thats it. They have their whole lives to wear that stuff. My daughter really didn't start wearing makeup till she got into high school then it was very light, lip gloss and mascara. I sell avon they have mascara that doesn't flake and is easy to wash off, also an array of lip glosses. Good luck
