I hope someone can help me out. My mother lives in my home and watches my 3 children one is in 2nd grade so she is at school most of the day. Now here's my question what would be an average amount I would pay if I sent my kids to daycare instead of being home with her. My husband and I are always argueing with her about the money situation. We pay all the bills in the house (mortgage, cable, electric, etc.) and I pay for her cell phone. My buy the groceries and everything she lives there for free for watching the kids. I am just wondering if it equals out or should she be helping more financially since she lives in the house and is home the most which she is using the internet and all utilites the most. She does work at Walmart part time so she is getting an income...

What can I do next?

I send my kids to Tender Care Learning Center (there are a number of them throughout Pgh) and it's absolutely wonderful, but expensive. The older 2 are in school now, so I pay $162 a week for just 3 days of care for my toddler. Maybe you could crunch the numbers and see if it evens out. If not, maybe you could ask that she at least pay for her cell phone. Good luck.

I send my girls to an unlicensed home day care because it is cheaper. They are there 4 days a week, part time and I pay about 400 dollars a month, or 25 per day. If they are there full time, more than 4 hours, I pay 180 dollars per week. Again this is an unlicensed daycare because I couldnt afford anything else. If you took your kids to a regular daycare it could cost twice what I pay and you have to pack their lunch and stuff. I hope I could help!

I would say that sending two kids to full-time daycare (not counting the one who is in school most of the day, although you'd probably have to pay something for after-school care for her too) could easily run $1,500-$2,000 per month at a fairly high-quality daycare center.

According to some short research, LOW average cost is $313/wk. That's for O. child. Google child care in PA, or call a few places for yourself to see what's in your area.
