Honestly, for my kids, it always seemed to vary according to the activity they were doing. If it was something they really really wanted to do, they might do it for 45 minutes or more. But most activities, it seemed to be about 20-30 minutes (if they weren't against doing it). If it is something they don't want to do, they might not even give it 2 minutes. Mine are now 8, 3 and 5 months.

Good luck. I hope this helps.

I vaguely remember a teacher telling me that their attention span is their age in minutes plus one. BUt don't quote me on that. So in this case, it would be no more than 3 minutes.

By the time I walk across the room to find the 'missing' car in the toy box for my 2.5 yr old, he's on to something else. So I'd say the size of a gnat. : )

I can't say for sure in minutes, but my daughter is 2 1/2. She will sometimes play with Play-Doh for over an hour or watch a favorite video intently from beginning to end. With other activities she is less interested in or when playing games where you have to take turns her attention span could last from several seconds to 5 minutes.

My daughter is almost two (Feb. 9) and I can tell you that her attention span varies. Some days, she can play in her kitchen for an hour and the next day she'll be in there for 5 minutes and then want to do art. The next time I try art, she won't do it at all. From what I've observed, that's normal.

That is a REALLY good question! :) I feel like my sons attention span varies greatly depending on what activity he's involved in....He could play on the computer for hours if I let him but when it comes to me trying to talk to him about misbehaving, I get about 4.5 seconds! :)

LOL! I didn't know 2yo had attention spans!!

In my experience 2yo children are pretty quick to change gears and move from one stimulation to another. On the other hand, I also see those same children able to sit and focus...when they want.
