AT Home DayCare or Not

I just moved back to Atlanta from Memphis TN. My son will be 3 in July and have not been in a daycare in over 6 months. He was going to La Petite Academy and he loved it. I lost my job and my mom has been keeping him for me. For the next 3 months we will be living on one side of town then moving to another side of town. Should I put him in a at home day care versus another La Petite Academy or Kids R US until we actually get settled or it doesnt matter. I am not sure how this will affect him.

What can I do next?

If you know you are going to move and where you will be moving to it might be in your interest to get him into a stable place where you will be moving to. this way he is settled in and the move itself will be less tramatic for him.

All kids go through some issues when they move and lossing friends too might be really hard. this will keep something consistant.

Good luck.

Can you keep him for the next three months while interviewing day cares on the side of town you will eventually move too? If you need to put him in a daycare now if the Petite Academy in your area then why not? If there is one that is closer to the middle of town then you won't have to move him when you make your LAST move. If you can still afdford it and he loves it that would be the way to go.

You both liked the Academy vs home go with it again. It is a better setting and prep for school. More his kids age, toys, teaching, school like. It is what he knows and likes.

I agree with the others. Go with what will be familiar to him. If he loved La Petite before, then he's likely to again. Should make for an easier transition than trying something completely different.

All LaPetite's are basically built the same and the staff all wear the same color clothes. He is going to fit in with the themes and teaching styles he is already familiar with. I say go ahead and enroll him and then when you move he'll have less stress because he'll just be going from one to the other.

If you can keep him with your mother, then interview for care when you are across town, that might be best for minimum of "change".

I like in-home myself until the child's around 4:
