Asking the Universe...

Is there a religion that supports the premise that you can "put things out into the universe" to get answers?

I've always prescribed to that philosophy and find that often times once I've put a question/consideration down on paper and "into the universe" I get a pretty quick response.

Anyone know if this is a religion OR simply a life philosophy? Anyone else follow it?

Let me preface my post by starting that this is coming from someone who does not believe in god(s) of any kind. I do however believe in the power of energies and putting out what you would like to get back. Do I pray? Nope. Do I always try to focus my energy on positive though and act? Yes. I find this philosophy suits me.

I hope you find your religion/philosophy that suits you and yours. :)

I've heard it chalked up to 'self-meditation' by a hypnotherapist I saw. Same thing. Posing a question to 'the universe' also poses the same question to your sub-conscious mind. Your sub-conscious mind has answers that your conscience mind is not aware of. It will appear as if the answer pops out of thin air, but really your sub-conscious mind has been busy at work trying to figure it out.

For me, though, its called prayer.

Into the Universe?!?! God has many names. I call Him, Heavenly Father. But I suppose you could address Him as "Universe".

Most people I know call that ("put things out into the universe"), "prayer" and yes I do that.

Good luck to you and yours.

Some call it meditation, some call it prayer, some call it magic, some call it "putting it out there". I am the last in the list. It's all the same thing. :)

I consider it to be spiritualism - and yes, I agree you get in what you put out.

8kids-Thank you for addressing that it is ok to call ''God'' anything you would like too.

I think that is a fact that all religion has lost.

I have a running dialogue with my maker.

I yell and complain at him....I pray when I need to or just to thank him.

I also do not expect a quick response. Ever. sometimes you have to live through something and wait for the lessons to come to you...but once they have you feel like the weight of the world flies off of you....and I personally get giddy that I was given the chance to see the work ''out-loud'' so to speak.

I do not think god has to be a ''religion'' it is a way of life. Something to keep you honest and motivate you to help other's along the way.

They have historically proven more then one ''story'' from the bible....given me enough reason to think that we are all right in one thing...There is something after this and NONE of us can really know what it is only speculate. Which is ok too....

Off my box.....good luck on the search:)

Well... it's kind of EVERY religion if you think of "God" as the Universe, if not then there is no "religion" that practices this, because... well... there's a lack of god.

Bhudism isn't far from this, but it isn't considered a religion in the literal definition, and there's lots more to it than just asking the Universe for stuff.

Beyond that it's more of a philosophy/ life practice etc.

I grew up (Catholic actually) in a little hippy town near San Francisco. The Universe was pretty central in all of our upbringings and moral development. As we were raised, however, it's less about asking for stuff and getting quick answers than about being connected to and reliant on everything and being honest, truthful and kind in everything we did. (ie "don't use negative self-talk because that puts those words into the Universe." "Be kind to others and the Universe will be kind to you." "Work hard and the Universe will see that it's important to you." "Be honest about what you need and the Universe will bring those things to you, if you are dishonest and pretend that you are happy when you are not, the Universe can't know you need help." etc.)

Not sure if you're asking because you're looking for a church, or just to know more about something that makes sense to you. Either way, it sounds like you're on a path that feels good to you. Good luck.

It is a life philosophy. There are also different religions that help people as they learn more about life, the Universe, Source, that we're all energy beings, that we all have abilities that most of us have forgotten about.

I have done The Law of Abundance for over a year now; I feel it has helped my husband land an extremely good-paying job, we have money built up in our checking account, and we never have to worry about making ends meet at the end of the month. We eat well--all organic--and we're able pretty much to do what we want to do--within limits (financial wise), of course.

Look into Spiritualism churches in your area as well as Unity churches. I am a Lutheran and am a member of a Lutheran church, and my daughter has started confirmation classes. She and I also attend a Spiritualism church, and I have started taking spiritual classes at the Unity Church in my city.

I also watched the DVD The Secret for about three or four months straight when I first started down the spirituality path--that helped me and the Laws of Abundance for my family immensely.

That is - somewhat - a principle behind the religion of wicca. othe forms of modern paganism also share a similar worldview. You can learn more online or in the new-age section of you library.

Also, try reading the Kybalion. It is available free as an e-book at Project Gutenburg. It might speak to your worldview!

Good luck on your journey!
