We have friends in the same boat you are! How exciting. Your boy is now a man :) Have fun and enjoy.
Not so much of a question but sharing with everyone. As you know from previous posts, our son joined the Texas Army National Guard. He left on Father's Day for boot camp. We receive letters from him every week and the growth in him as been amazing. He actually admitted to missing me!! We get to talk once a week, if they earn their phones, for a few minutes. I live for Sundays!!! I'm happy to say we will see him Thursday! He graduates from boot camp on Friday! I can't believe how excited I am to see the stinker!!! I knew I would miss him but it has been more than I thought. Now, I will admit that my husband and I have enjoyed having the house to ourselves. We are new emptynesters! So that has been terrific, but I'm just so darn excited about seeing my army boy! He will be home in later October, after job training, then we take him to Kentucky for college. Have any of you experienced this?
Just got back from seeing our Army son! He looks so good!! I can't believe how mature and grown up he is. He has slimmed down and firmed up. He is so tall and handsome. When they dismissed the battery for their leave I didn't even recognize him! My husband said "here he comes" and I'm like "where" and hubby says "he's in front of you". I looked down and there he was. I recognized his eyes!!! Everything else was so different. We spent a fabulous two and one-half days with him. We had bonus time on Saturday because he was at the airport the same time we were. He is now in Gulfport, MS for his seven week AIT (job training). I am still giddy with excitment from seeing him! Thank you all for your kind words!!

I've experienced it with my nephew.
Congratulations to your son!
Congratulaitions to your son and to you. It is as much a hurdle for them to get through bootcamp as it is for the mom. There is nothing like that first hug after bootcamp.
I fell apart after my son left for the Navy. As much grief as he had given me he was still MY baby. I loved him with all my soul. He was my oldest, my rock. HUbby was deployed all the time and I had come to really depend on that stinker.
His growth too has been amazing. He left after boot, went to Pensacola for training then to Japan. He was there for two years. He came home once in that time, for Hubby's retirement.
He has now been transferred to USA soil, but even though we are on the same continent I still don't see him very often, all those miles and timezones. I miss him terribly, I cherish the times I do see him. But the best is knowing that everything he does is for him, it makes him happy. It benefits him, not me or Dad or Grandpa. It's all about how he can better himself. I too am so proud of my little peanut. (Can you tell?)
Enjoy your time with your manboy.
Congrats!!
My son was in the service for a period of time as well!
btw - where in KY? *L*
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
You have much to be proud of!!!
I too would be excited!!! I hope you enjoy your time with him!!
We have been though this twice both our sons have gone through boot camp – one is in the Coast Guard and the other is in the Air Force. The boot camp time is hard (on both ends) but when it is over you should be so proud of him! He has worked hard to get to graduation; I am from military family so I know my father and both my brothers are in or have been in the military.
As a mom it is even harder sometimes, but I think it brought the boys closer as they missed us more and realized how much the meant to us. Enjoy your time with him this weekend and congratulations!! And tell him thank you from us!
I have not experienced this, but I wanted to say thank you to your son for joining the ranks! :)
I have a cousin who just got home from basic training for the Texas Army National Guard. My husband is in the Alabama Army National Guard, but currently deployed with the Oklahoma Army National Guard.
Congratulations to him on graduating! I still have another month & a half or so to see my hubby again!!
Congratulations!!! My son graduated Air Force Basic Training back in February. It was so hard to wait for those infrequent phone calls that could come any day or time. Graduation was an amazing experience and we all cried. I never thought he would be so happy to see me and his siblings! I am sure you will in awe of the transformation your son has gone through, just like I was and so proud!!.
Congratulations - give him hugs and enjoy your time with him. It will go fast but you will be so proud!!
Aw....sweet!
It really does make them "men"!
Enjoy!
